The Vikings (2-5) broke a five game losing streak with a 59-52 win over the Tide, which saw its losing streak extended to six games.
Glendale opened up an 11 point margin after the first quarter, besting the Golden Tide 24-13 and then also taking the second frame 15-8 to take a comfortable 39-21 lead into the intermission.
The Golden Tide turned the second half into its favor, thanks to a 18-7 edge in the final eight minutes to make it a game.
Curwensville head coach Matt Wassil said after the contest, “Our guys played very well tonight and I was very proud of them. They played hard the entire game this evening.”
One tactic the Tide wanted to employ was difficult to do and Wassil explained, saying, “We came in wanting to put pressure on them, but due to a short bench and early foul trouble we had to back off of that part of our game.”
Junior Ty Terry led all scorers on the night with 27 tallies that included 8 three-pointers. Trevor Lansberry followed with 15 points.
The Vikings had three players in double figures as Ryan Sinclair poured in 24 with teammates Loegen Smeal adding 15 and Justin Jasper chipping in with 13.
There was a total of 18 treys on the night as Curwensville had 10 and the Vikings came up with eight.
Curwensville had a rough night from the foul line, making only four of 14 attempts while Glendale hit on five of seven.
In the junior varsity game, Glendale edged Curwensville 31-30. High scorer for the Golden Tide was Carson Spencer with 10 points while sophomore Ayden Sutika added eight.
The Tide (1-8) are on the road again on Thursday night to play in another MVL game, this time against the Warriors of West Branch.
