ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 36, RIDGWAY 33

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic built an 11-point lead after three quarters then had to hold off a late charge by Ridgway to knock off the visiting Elkers, 36-33, in AML action.

The unbeaten Crusaders, who have handed Ridgway both of their losses this year, led 31-20 after three quarters but were outscored 13-5 in the fourth quarter.

Johnny Mitchell led the comeback for Ridgway scoring seven of his team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Gabe Kraus led ECC with 17 points including hitting five 3-pointers. He hit four triples in the first half helping the Crusaders to a 20-13 halftime lead.

Kyle Huff added 11 points and Nate DaCanal seven for ECC, which only had four players score – Dan Stauffer had the other point.

Justin Kasmierski added 10 points for Ridgway, which rallied from a 13-point deficit in the team’s first meeting only to lose in overtime. But the Elkers leading scorer, Jeremy Breier (19.2 ppg) was held to a season-low three points, the first time in the last two years he has failed to score in double digits.  

PUNXSUTAWNEY 51, BRADFORD 48

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Ethan Riley buried a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left to lift Punxsutawney to a 51-48 win over visiting Bradford in D9 League play.

The game-winning three was the only basket of the night for Riley.

Devin Kelly led the Chucks, who led 32-28 at halftime, with 16 points with Dylan Huey adding 10.

Deondre Terwilliger paced Bradford with 14 points. John Eakin added 10 points and seven rebounds with Nate Higbie chipping in 13 points. Andy Pantuso had four points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 65, SHEFFIELD 27

DUBOIS, Pa. – Christian LaParne poured in 23 points to lead DuBois Central Catholic to a 65-27 home win in AML action over Sheffield.

LaParne scored 11 points in the first quarter alone to help the Cardinals gain an 18-4 lead at the end of the quarter.

Logan Connolly and Cale Albaugh paced Sheffield with seven points each.

CRANBERRY 57, REDBANK VALLEY 48

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Evan Lutz scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds and came away with three steals to help visiting Cranberry hold off Redbank Valley, 57-48, in KSAC Crossover play.

The Berries, who used a 16-2 first-half ending run to take a 29-24 halftime lead, led by seven, 43-36, early in the fourth quarter before Redbank Valley came charging back to close the gap to one four times – the last time at 49-48 – before Cranberry ended the game on an 8-0 run that included five free throws by Lutz, who was 8 of 10 from the line.

Austin Rex added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Berries with Brendan Zerbe chipping in eight points and eight boards.

Sam Heeter paced Redbank Valley with 14 points, four rebounds and four steals but shot just 4 of 17 from the floor. Kaleb Reed added 12 points, and Dalton Dougherty had 13 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.   

CLARION-LIMESTONE 85, MONITEAU 54

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Led by 21 points from Noah Rankin, Clarion-Limestone put five players in double digits in an 85-54 win at Moniteau in KSAC Crossover action.

Taylor Smith added 16 points for the Lions, who also got 14 points from Dan Callen, 13 from Christian Smith and 11 from Ian Callen.

Callen scored 12 of his points in a 30-point second quarter for C-L which helped the Lions to a 45-20 halftime lead.

Aaron Marterella paced Moniteau with 14 points with Laken Pry adding 13 and Derek Boben 12 for the Warriors.

KEYSTONE 66, FOREST AREA 12

KNOX, Pa. – Austin Ion and Nate Wingard each scored 13 points to lead Keystone to a 66-12 win over visiting Forest Area in KSAC Crossover action.

Mason Rearick chipped in 12 points for the Panthers.

Nic Smail led Forest Area, which played without leading scorer Seth Berlin, with five points.  

KARNS CITY 73, VENANGO CATHOLIC 46

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Ian McElroy came off the bench to score 17 points for Karns city in a 73-46 win over visiting Venango Catholic.

Fourteen of McElroy’s points came in the second quarter helping the Gremlins maintain the 15-point, 20-5, lead they built after one quarter. KC led 39-23 at halftime.

Noah Pollock added 13 points and five assists for the Gremlins with Jacob Friel chipping in eight points and seven rebounds and Jimmy Thompson 10 points.

Brady Kingston led VC with 17 points including going 11 of 16 from the free-throw line. Noah Puleo chipped in with nine points and Tim Wagner eight.

NORTH CLARION 49, A-C VALLEY 35

FOXBURG, Pa. – Zayn Hargenrader scored 15 points to pace North Clarion ina 49-35 road win against A-C Valley in KSAC Crossover play.

Danny Sherbine added nine points for the Wolves including eight in the fourth quarter when North Clarion outscored the Falcons 17-11.

Austin Heeter paced A-C Valley, which trailed 13-3 at the end of a quarter, with 14 points and nine rebounds.

CLEARFIELD 67, CENTRAL-MARTINSBURG 50

CLEARFIELD, Pa. – Behind the play of Tommy Hazel, Cody Spaid and Will Myers, Clearfield stayed unbeaten in Mountain League play with a 67-50 victory over visiting Central-Martinsburg.

Hazel had a game-high 24 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists for the Bison, who also got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Spaid and 11 points, six rebounds and six assists from Myers.  

KANE 49, BROCKWAY 45

KANE, Pa. – Andrew Bucheit had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead Kane past visiting Brockway, 49-45, in non-conference action.

Davis Gardner added 12 points and Andy Bundy eight for the Wolves, who broke a 27-all halftime tie with a 10-7 third-quarter advantage.

Corey Carr had 11 points for Brockway, which led 17-12 at the end of eight minutes. Carter Adams chipped in nine points for the Rovers.

OTTO-ELDRED 64, HINSDALE (NY) 46

HINSDALE, N.Y. – Sawyer Drummond recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, as Otto-Eldred crossed state lines to beat Hinsdale (N.Y.), 64-46.

Heath Stewart led the Terrors with 12 points while adding six steals with Trey Dalton adding 10 points and Damen Palmer eight. Jacob Vanscoter had five points and eight rebounds.

Dalton Miller led all scorers with 26 points for Hinsdale.
