RIDGWAY 46, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 36

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Johnny Mitchell and Andy Breier combined for 26 points, as Ridgway ended Elk County Catholic’s 53-game home win streak with a 46-36 win in AML play.

Mitchell netted 14 points and Breier 12 in the win, which ended a home-win streak that lasted nearly five years for ECC.

The Crusaders last loss at Aaron Straub Gymnasium was a 42-39 setback to Bradford Jan. 23, 2013. They finished that season by winning four in a row at home then went 11-0 at home in each of the next four seasons before starting this year 5-0 at home. ECC’s last home AML loss also occurred during the 2012-13 season when the Crusaders dropped the season opener that year to Johnsonburg, 47-37.

ECC, which has lost twice to Ridgway this season also falling in the title game of the Elk County Catholic Tournament at St. Marys High School, got a game-high 23 points from Ryan Newton.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 77, SHEFFIELD 40

DUBOIS, Pa. – Justin Miknis nailed five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 27 points, as DuBois Central Catholic vanquished visiting Sheffield, 77-40, in AML action.

Anthony Kness added 11 points in the win for the Cardinals.

Cale Albaugh paced Sheffield with 15 points with Matt Dunham adding 11.

CURWENSVILLE 58, KANE 45

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Curwensville got good news when Josh Terry returned to action after injuring his ankle earlier in the week at Elk County Catholic, and the Golden Tide senior delivered 19 points in a 58-45 AML win over visiting Kane.

Avery Francisco added 12 points for the Golden Tide with Devon Barrett chipping in nine and Christian Bakaysa eight.

Tommy Holt had a team-high 17 points for Kane with Chad Greville adding 11.

BRADFORD 55, PUNXSUTAWNEY 52

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Tyler Gigliotti hit five of six free throws in the final 1:38 to help visiting Bradford hold on for a 55-52 D9 League win over Punxsutawney.

With the Owls leading 50-49 with 1:38 to play, Gigliotti was fouled and the Punxsutawney bench was issued a technical foul as well. The Bradford sophomore hit three of those four shots to put the Owls ahead 53-49.

Brandon Matthews answered with a three for Punxsutawney to cut the deficit to 53-52, but Gigliotti put Bradford back ahead three and set the final score when he hit two charity shots with six seconds left.

Gigliotti netted a game-high 26 points for Bradford while going 15 of 16 from the free-throw line. The Owls were 23 of 28 from the line as a team.

Deondre Terwilliger chipped in 11 points for Bradford.

Matthews had a team-high 21 points for Punxsutawney, which went 12 of 22 from the line as a team.

CENTRAL-MARTINSBURG 50, CLEARFIELD 46

MARTINSBURG, Pa. – Preston Karstetter, Joey Smith and Noah Muthler each scored 14 points to lead Central-Martinsburg to a 50-46 Mountain League win over visiting Clearfield.

Reese Wilson had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Bison while Wyatt Porter added 12 points and Jon Gates 10.

JOHNSONBURG 75, PORT ALLEGANY 42

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Tyler Singer had 16 points and seven rebounds to help list Johnsonburg past visiting Port Allegany, 75-42.

Logan Notarianni added 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Rams, who had 12 players score, while Nick Bliss added 12 points and five rebounds and Isaac Schloder six points and 12 rebounds with eight offensive boards.

Port Allegany scored 30 of its points in 10 3-pointers with David Talkington hitting five triples on his way to a game-high 18 points. Jordan Card added 12 points on four 3-pointers for the Gators with Howie Stuckey also hitting a three and scoring nine points.

NORTH CLARION 49, A-C VALLEY 43

FOXBURG, Pa. – With the game on the line, Zander Hargenrader went 4 of 4 from the free-throw line to seal a 49-43 win for visiting North Clarion over A-C Valley.

The Wolves led by jus two, 45-43, when the Falcons fouled Hargenrader who delivered two key makes. Then, after a North Clarion defensive stop, Hargenrader was again fouled and again he hit both free throws to seal the win.

Hargenrader finished with a game-high 12 points, while Nathan Banner added nine and Jesse Schmader eight for North Clarion.

Eddie Stevanus had 11 points and five rebounds to pace A-C Valley with Levi Orton adding eight points, Eli Penny seven and Jeff Ginn five points and a team-best 10 rebounds.

CLARION 69, UNION 43

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Austin Hummell led a trio of Clarion players in double digits with 22 points to help the visiting Bobcats to a 69-43 win over Union.

Cam Craig added 17 points for Clarion with Archer Mills chipping in with 11.

Lucas Bowser had nine points and seven rebounds for Union with Reice Saylor chipping in eight points and eight rebounds and Kylar Culbertson eight points.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 75, MONITEAU 35

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Ian Callen helped Clarion-Limestone snap a two-game losing streak by scoring 27 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, dishing out eight assists, swiping eight steals and blocking four shots in a 75-35 road win for the Lions at Moniteau.

Deion Deas also broke out of a mini-slump with 20 points, four steals and four assists for C-L with Christian Smith chipping in nine tallies and Julian Laugand five points and four steals.

Jared Liminski had 14 points to pace Moniteau with Tyler McFadden adding nine tallies.

KEYSTONE 59, FOREST AREA 37

KNOX, Pa. – Nate Wingard had a double-double to help Keystone to a 59-37 win over visiting Forest Area.

Wingard recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers, while Corey Rapp chipped in eight points and five assists, Dalton Jones 11 points and Luke Hurrelbrink and Isaak Jones eight tallies apiece.

Seth Berlin led Forest Area with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Noah Burke added nine tallies.

Keystone used a 22-4 second quarter to break open a 14-9 lead after a quarter.

KARNS CITY 67, VENANGO CATHOLIC 42

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Austin Fahlor had 10 points and seven assists to help Karns City to a 67-42 win over visiting Venango Catholic.

Chase Beighley led the well-balanced Gremlins with 13 points, Nolan Riley added 12 points and Jacob Friel had eight points and eight rebounds.

Ben Gillispie and Josh Puleo combined for 29 points for Venango Catholic with Gillispie leading the Vikings with a game-high 15 tallies and Puleo adding 14.

REDBANK VALLEY 63, CRANBERRY 54

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Keaton Kahle tickled the twine for 18 points to help Redbank Valley topple visiting Cranberry, 63-54.

Logan Wadding added 14 points for the Bulldogs with Nick Smith chipping in with 13 tallies.

Dan McQuaide had a game-high 24 points for Cranberry with Matt McQuaide and J.T. Stahlman each adding nine tallies.
