SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – After knocking both North Clarion and Coudersport from the ranks of the unbeaten last week, Moniteau regains the top spot in the D9Sports.com District 9 Girls’ Basketball Power Ratings through games Jan. 21.
The Lady Warriors (13-2) beat then No. 1 North Clarion, 52-47, on the road Wednesday and then knocked off then No. 2 Coudersport, 58-50, also on the road Saturday.
Coudersport (12-1) retains its No. 2 ranking, although the Lady Falcons are now in a tie for the spot with streaking Punxsutawney (10-3), which has won eight straight. Kane (11-3) comes in at No. 4 with North Clarion (12-2) dropping to No. 5 after also falling by one to A-C Valley on the road Friday.
Power ratings are different from rankings in that a power rating the rating is based on current events which means while previous performances and results are taken into consideration they are not the end all be all of how a team is performing in a particular week whereas a ranking is based on a team’s entire body of work. Because the rankings/power ratings are not used to determine playoff positions or seeings in District 9, we have decided to go to a power rating system to better reflect how a team is currently performing.
