Johnsonburg Baseball Stays Perfect, Beats Kane for D9 Title

DUBOIS, Pa. – Johnsonburg preserved their perfect season, winning the D9 Class AA Title over Kane, 4-1.

The Rams only had five hits in the game but used their tenacious baserunning to get the job done offensively, stealing nine bases. Dalton Stahli had three of Johnsonburg’s five hits, driving in two runs. Gabe Watts pitched a gem for the Rams, allowing only three hits and one run over six innings, walking two and striking out 10. Aiden Zimmerman pitched a scoreless seventh to secure the save.

Carson Whiteman took the loss for Kane, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, walking three, and striking out four.

Johnsonburg took a lead in the bottom of the first, as Zimmerman reached on an error, stole second and third, and scored on a Domenic Allegretto sacrifice fly. The Rams would up their lead in the third, with Stahli providing a key 2-RBI triple to up the Rams’ lead to 4-0. Kane would score a run in the sixth, but the Rams would hold on for the win.

Johnsonburg advances to the PIAA Playoffs with the win. Kane will face the second-place team from District 6 for a place in the State Playoffs.
