KSAC, AML Announce Playoff Plans

ST. MARYS, Pa. – The AML and the KSAC have announced their conference playoff plans.

The AML plays a semifinal and championship format while the KSAC plays just a championship game.

AML FORMAT

The AML tournament, featuring four teams in both girls and boys, starts with girls’ semifinal action Thursday followed by boys’ semifinal action Friday and the championship games Saturday.

The girls’ semifinals Thursday featured DuBois Central Catholic at Kaen and Elk County Catholic at Ridgway with both games starting at 7 p.m.

Friday’s semifinals for the boys’ features Elk County Catholic hosting Brockway and Ridgway hosting Johnsonburg. Both of those games are also at 7 p.m.

The girls; title game will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Marys High School followed by the boys’ title game at 8 p.m. at St. Marys High School.

Cost of the tournament is $4 for adults and $2 for students. AML and District 9 passes are accepted.

KSAC FORMAT

The KSAC boys’ and girls’ championship games are set for Friday, Feb. 16, at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym.

The boys’ game will feature Clarion-Limestone vs. Karns City at 6 p.m. with the girls’ game between North Clarion and A-C Valley to follow at 8 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens. Children under the age of 4 will be admitted free. No passes – KSAC passes, school season passes nor District 9 passes – will be accepted. All proceeds from the event go towards the KSAC Scholarships and Awards.

Doors will open at 4:50 p.m.

C-L is making its fifth straight appearance in the boys’ game and its sixth in seven years. The Lions won KSAC titles in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and finished as runners-up last year to Keystone.

Karns City is making its first-ever appearance in the KSAC title game. The Gremlins last won a KSAC title in 2002.

North Clarion is in the KSAC Championship game for the third straight. The She-Wolves won the title last year over Moniteau after falling to Karns City in 2016.

A-C Valley is in the KSAC title game for the first time.
