KSAC/CCL BOYS’ BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS
Listed below are the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference/Clarion County League champions since 1946. The conference was originally called the Clarion County League until switching to the KSAC prior to the 1993-94 season.
The current basketball membership of 13 teams started in 2004-05 when District 10 schools Rocky Grove, Cranberry, Venango Catholic, and East and West Forest joined the conference. Rocky Grove left after the 2007-08 season. The current divisional format was set up prior to the 2006-07 season and a championship game was set up to crown its annual champion.
In the late-1940s, the Clarion County League was split into two divisions — Class B and Class C — with East Brady, Clarion, Rimersburg and Clarion-Limestone making up Class B and Sligo, Ashland, St. Petersburg, Salem, Knox, Shippenville and Farmington making up Class C.
School consolidation dropped league membership to as few as six schools in the mid-1950s — Union Joint, C-L, North Clarion, East Brady, Clarion and Keystone. In 1958-59, the league added Redbank Valley and A-C Valley to boost the league number to eight teams.
The CCL bumped up to 10 teams with the addition of Moniteau and Karns City prior to the 1964-65 season. That number didn’t change until Brookville made it an 11-team league in 1980-81. East Brady shut its doors in the early 1990s and Brookville left the league before the 1998-99 season.
