BASEBALL

CURWENSVILLE 5, BROCKWAY 2, 10 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Avery Francisco hit a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead Curwensville over Brockway, 5-2.

Francisco went 2-for-5 and drove in three scores to lead Curwensville. Ralph Evans and Jeramiah Farley each had a hit with Matt Brown and Jake Mullins each adding an RBI.

Tyler Serafini paced the Rovers with three hits and a run. Zane Puhala had a pair of hits and Clayton Heckman added a run.

Farley was credited the victory, striking out four and allowing four hits in six innings for Curwensville.

Rovers starter Tino Inzana struck out seven and allowed three hits in 6 ⅔ innings. Marcus Copelli took the loss and gave up two hits and three runs in the final three innings.

KARNS CITY 17, GROVE CITY 10

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Steve O’Donnell scored four runs in Karns City’s 17-10 shootout victory over Grove City.

Karns City trailed 6-3 at the bottom of the second before scoring seven runs at the top of the third.

O’Donnell went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs to go along with his four runs for the Gremlins. Tyler Yough hit a home run and scored twice while adding two RBIs. Josh Wimer went 4-for-5 and scored three runs while Conner Schnaffner, Zack Blair and Jake Weckerly all added a pair of runs.

Lance Craig hit two home runs, including a grand slam to pace Grove City. Julian Breese had a pair of hits and two runs with Tate Anderson and Ben Knouse each adding a run and RBI.

Colton Hutchinson earned the victory for the Gremlins, striking out six and allowing four hits in four innings.

Dylan McElhinney pitched 2 ⅓ innings and took the loss after giving up 10 runs and six hits.

HUNTINGDON 8, CLEARFIELD 6

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Huntingdon scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and rallied to defeat visiting Clearfield, 8-6.

Tied 6-6 at the bottom of the sixth inning, Nick Troha and Jacob Wagner scored runs to break the tie. Troah led the Bearcats going 2-for-3 and two runs while driving in three runs. Wagner went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs with Draven Zook adding a pair of RBIs.

Eli Glass and Harrison Peacock had a pair of hits for the Bison with Caullin Reed scoring two runs.

Isaac Snare got the win for the Bearcats allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out two.

For the Bison, Hunter Dixon struck out three and allowed 12 hits and all eight runs in the loss.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 9, GREENSBURG CENTRAL CATHOLIC 5

DUBOIS, Pa. – Brandon Walker scored three runs and helped visiting DuBois Central Catholic defeat Greensburg Central Catholic, 9-5.

Walker went 3-for-3 and hit three doubles for the Cardinals. Noah Bloom scored a pair of runs and two RBIs with Tyler McIntosh and Garrett Prosper adding a run apiece. Justin Miknis hit a home run and drove in two runs.

Dylan Sebek paced the Centurions with four hits and two runs. Alex Miller and Thomas Voelker each had a run and a pair of hits. Paul Rice chipped in for a run.

Cole Sansom gave up seven hits and struck out six in the win for the Cardinals.

Thomas Voelker took the loss for Greensburg, allowing nine hits and seven runs in three innings on the mound.

OTTO-ELDRED 15, SMETHPORT 5

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Cole Sebastian scored five runs in visiting Otto-Eldred’s 15-5 victory over Smethport.

Sebastian went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs for the Terrors. Chris Connelly drove in six runs and hit two home runs while Chase Sebastian scored three runs. Jacob Merry singled twice and Andrew Sheeler scored two runs.

Grant Ognen paced the Hubbers with a pair of hits and a run. Nate Hollowell doubled and scored a run.

Sheeler earned the victory for Otto-Eldred, striking out six and allowing seven hits.

Grant Ognen struck out three while allowing two hits and six runs in two innings in the loss for Smethport.

SOFTBALL

KARNS CITY 15, WEST MIDDLESEX 1, 5 INNINGS

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Karns City scored 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-1 five-inning victory over West Middlesex.

Alyssa Stitt led the Lady Gremlins, going 3-for-3 and scoring three runs while adding two RBIs. Mackenzie Dunn hit a triple while going 2-for-3 and scored twice. Emily Wolfe and Garrah Milochik scored a pair of runs apiece and Taylor Ekis, Emily Huff and Katie Neff all drove in two runs.

West Middlesex’s lone run came on Madison Nehlen’s home run in the bottom of the fourth.

Dunn earned the win with eight strikeouts while allowing three hits for Karns City

CAMERON COUNTY 8, NORTHERN POTTER 0

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Laila Smith scored four runs and threw a complete-game shutout to help Cameron County defeat visiting Northern Potter, 8-0.

Smith went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs with a home run and four runs scored. Taylor Britton chipped in for three RBIs and went 2-for-3 while scoring a run. Kaitlyn Burgett went 3-for-4 and scored a run and Alyvia McKimm chipped in for a home run and RBI.

Madison Hoopes and Marissa Bliss paced Northern Potter with a pair of hits.

Smith allowed six hits and no runs in the win for the Lady Red Raiders and struck out 13.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 15, BROOKVILLE 1, 5 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Freshman Avery Sickeri hit a pair of home runs and helped DuBois Central Catholic defeat visiting Brookville, 15-1 in five innings.

Sickeri went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs. Chelsea Busatto went 2-for-2 and drove in a pair of runs while scoring two. Maia Cogley had a pair of hits to go along with a run and Shayleigh Gulvas chipped in for two runs and an RBI.

Freshman Morgan Tyler got the win for DCC, striking out eight and allowing two hits in four innings on the mound.

CURWENSVILLE 12, BROCKWAY 1, 5 INNINGS

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Curwensville used a balanced scoring effort to defeat Brockway, 12-1, in five innings.

Bailey Bloom went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Lady Tide. Joslynne Freyer added a score and drove in two runs. Logan Sheeder and Abby Pentz each chipped in for a pair of runs.

Mackenzie Overbeck scored the lone run for the Lady Rovers. Madalynne Heckman and Emily Botwright each chipped in for a hit.

Freyer got her first varsity win for Curwensville, striking out 12 and allowing four hits.

For Brockway, Morgan Lindemuth allowed four hits and 12 runs while striking out four in the loss.

JOHNSONBURG 20, KANE 0, 5 INNINGS

KANE, Pa. – Johnsonburg scored 10 runs in the fourth inning and defeated Kane, 20-0, in five innings.

Peyton Delhunty went 4-for-4 and scored three runs for the Ramettes with Haylee Zimmerman and Alexa Mahoney adding three runs apiece. Maria Jones led the team with four hits with Jenna Pavlock scoring twice and driving in four runs. Lindsey Kocjancic scored a pair of runs and and Julie Peterson hit a home run and drove in three runs.

Jones threw a shutout for Johnsonburg, allowing three hits and striking out six.

OTTO-ELDRED 15, SMETHPORT 1, 5 INNINGS

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Otto-Eldred used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Smethport, 15-1, in five innings.

Gabby Nickerson led the Lady Terrors going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Britney Greeley and Riley Raught each hit doubles and drove in two runs. Autumn Smith added a double and RBI.

Rylee Crowley went 1-for-2 with a single and RBI to pace Smethport.

Abby Wolfe picked up the victory for Otto-Eldred striking out seven and allowing three hits.

Corrine McClain gave up 10 hits and only struck out one in the loss for Smethport.
