BASEBALL

BROCKWAY 10, KANE 3

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Hunter Antonuccio went 3-for-3 with a double, two walks, an RBI and a run scored to fuel a 10-3 Brockway win over visiting Kane.

Matthew Clark also doubled for the Rovers while going 3-for-4, while Jesse Johnson was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Erik Botwright added a pair of runs scored while singling and walking.

Connor Crowley was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Kane. His courtesy runner, Charles Gardner, scored twice.

Antonuccio picked up the win going 5 ⅔ innings allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Ty Stahli suffered the loss allowing five runs, three earned, on two hits and five walks while striking out two in two innings of work.

CLEARFIELD 3, TYRONE 1

TYRONE, Pa. – Tommy Hazel pitched five strong innings and then made himself a winner with a two-run, tiebreaking double in the double of the sixth to lead Clearfield to a 3-1 road win over Tyrone.

Hazel went five innings allowing one unearned run on four hits and a walk while striking out four but found himself and his team down 1-0 going to the sixth.

But in the sixth, Zane Morgan singled home the tying run and Hazel followed with the go-ahead, two-run double.

Will Myers came in and got the save going two innings allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four.

Hazel finished 2-for-3 with the two-run double accounting for a third of the Bison’s six hits.

Kevin Lehner was 2-for-3 with a double for Tyrone.

Micah Woomer took the loss going seven innings allowing three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 11, JOHNSONBURG 6

DUBOIS, Pa. – Brandon Walker and Thomas Grecco each drove in two runs, and DuBois Central Catholic scored eight times in the first two innings combined to beat visiting Johnsonburg, 11-6 at Showers Field.

The Cardinals trailed 3-0 after a half inning but scored five in the bottom of the first and three more in the second to take an 8-3 lead.

Walker was 1-for-5 with the two RBIs, while Grecco was 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and the two RBIs. Michael Misiewicz was also 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored for DCC with Jack Frank going 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored and Garret Prosper 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.

Neil MacDonald was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs to lead Johnsonburg. Johnny Mitchell was also 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Dom Torretti got the win going four innings allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and a walk while striking out three.

Justin Miknis picked up the save. He entered the game in the sixth with the Cardinals winning 9-4 but the Rams having the bases loaded. He gave up a two-run single but didn’t allow any further damage. His final time was 1 ⅓ innings, one hit, one walks and three strikeouts.

Ben Ames suffered the loss allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits and a walk in one-plus innings of work.

ALTOONA 9, ST. MARYS 1

ALTOONA, Pa. – T.J. Becker and Cole Gibson combined on a three-hitter to pace a 9-1 Altoona win over visiting St. Marys.

Becker went the first six innings allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six. Gibson pitched the seventh allowing a hit while striking out two.

It was a team effort on offense for the Mountain Lions, who scored eight times in the first inning, with seven different players each getting one hit and five different players driving in a run apiece. Ryan Shope led the way going 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Casey Sheetz was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two runs scored.

Jeff Wehler had a double and a run scored for St. Marys with Hayden Tettis picking up the RBI.

Tim Beimel suffered the loss going ⅔ of an inning allowing eight runs, four earned, on four hits and three walks while striking out one.

NORTHERN POTTER 11, NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD 7

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Northern Potter rode a six-run first inning and a four-run third inning to an 11-7 road win over North Penn-Mansfield.

Hunter Inzana drove in three runs for the Panthers while going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored.

Tylor Thompson added a 2-for-4 day with a run scored and two RBIs for NoPo, while Joey Holbrook was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Tucker Kosa and Blake Jeffers also added a pair of hits each with Kosa going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Jeffers finishing 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Christian Inzana chipped in a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

Devin Burdick, the second of three Panthers’ pitchers got the win. He went 1 ⅔ innings allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out one.

Hunter Inzana started and lasted 2 ⅓ innings giving up three runs on four hits and four walks and four strikeouts.

Kosa picked up the save going three innings allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two.

KARNS CITY 8, CRANBERRY 3

BUTLER, Pa. – Winning pitcher Tyler Yough was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored to help Karns City to an 8-3 win over Cranberry, who acted as the home team at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Stephen O’Donnell, Markus Lantz and Cullen Williams each had two hits for the Gremlins.

Williams was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, O’Donnell was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI and Lantz was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Andrew Gunn was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored to pace Cranberry. Shay Harry added a 2-for-3 day with a run scored.

Yough went the distance allowing three unearned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four.

Nolan Brannon took the loss allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits and four walks while striking out three in three innings of work.

Karns City led 3-0 until the sixth when it scored five times off of Gunn, who pitched three innings allowing the five runs on six hits with a strikeout.

All three of Cranberry’s runs came in the bottom of the seventh.

NORTH CLARION 17, UNION 11

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Logan Minich was 4-for-6 with a double, six RBIs and two runs scored to help North Clarion to a 17-11 win over Union in Rimersburg.

Zander Hargenrader, Noah Meyers and Sam Minich each added a pair of hits with Sam Minich going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Meyers 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI and Hargenrader finishing 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Matson Higgins added a 1-for-3 day with three run scored and an RBI and Korey Mills was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Logan Weaver got the win.

North Clarion led 11-1 going to bottom of the fifth but Union scored nine times in the inning to keep the game alive with 15 batters going to the plate.

Dana Logue was 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Golden Knights.

 

SOFTBALL

BROCKWAY 22, KANE 2, 4 INNINGS

KANE, Pa. – Brockway scored at least four runs in each of the game’s four innings on its way to a 22-2, four-inning victory at Kane.

The Lady Rovers scored four in the first, five in the second, four in the third and nine in the fourth to get the blowout win.

Kaitlyn Morelli, Leah Lindemuth, Anndi Bartlett, Savannah Terwilliger and Adriana Azzato each had three hits for Brockway.

Morelli was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs. Lindemuth went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Bartlett was 3-for-3 with a pair of walks, an RBI and four runs scored. Terwilliger went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs and Azzato was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Alyana Dowdall and Morgan Uhl each chipped in a pair of hits for the Lady Rovers with Dowdall going 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs and Uhl 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored three RBIs.

Kayla Dowdall got the win going four innings allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven.

GALETON 1, OSWAYO VALLEY 0, 10 INNINGS

GALETON, Pa. – Olivia Pagano’s bloop hit between second and third in the bottom of the 10th scored Jessica Evans to give Galeton a 1-0 win over visiting Oswayo Valley.

Makaya Shadle got the shutout win going all 10 innings for the Lady Tigers.
