SOFTBALL

PORT ALLEGANY 12, BRADFORD 5

BRADFORD, Pa. – Cailey Barnett went 3-for-5 with a three-run double and an inside-the-park home run to spark a 12-5 Port Allegany win at Bradford.

Tori Tanner was also 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Lady Gators with Jenna Sprankle going 3-for-5 with a double.

Emily Warner hit a two-run home run for Bradford while going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Mackenzie Mealy was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs and Olivia Angell was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Jade Evens got the win allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits, a hit batter and four walks while striking out five. Kiera Keck went 1 ⅔ innings scoreless giving up a hit and three walks while striking out one. Bree Garzel finished the final 1 ⅓ innings not allowing run, a hit or a walk.

Maley took the loss giving up four runs, three earned on six hits while striking out four in 3 ⅓ innings. Warner went 3 ⅔ innings giving up eight runs, only one earned, on five hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out five.

A-C VALLEY 15, MONITEAU 10, 6 INNINGS

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Meah Ielase and Andrea Meals each drove in three runs to help A-C Valley to a 15-10, six-inning win over at Moniteau in a game that was called after six because of rain.

Ielase was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Meals was 3-for-4.

Baylee Blauser also went 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI for the Lady Falcons with Kelsie Terwilliger going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Brogan Armagost hit a grand slam in the sixth innings as well, while Emily Wetzel scored three runs while going 1-for-2 with two walks. She was also hit by a pitch and stole a base. Cami McNany scored twice and drove in two while going 1-for-3 with a walk.

Dolcey Shunk had three RBIs for Moniteau, while Cassidy Claypoole was 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored, Lexi Miller was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Courtney Stewart was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Blauser got the win in relief of Syndie Schmidt. She pitched 4 ⅓ innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 12 hits and two walks while striking out one. Schmidt pitched 1 ⅔ innings giving up two earned runs on three hits and two walks.

Stewart took the loss going 5 ⅔ innings giving up 14 runs on 17 hits and eight walks while striking out four.

COUDERSPORT 6, OTTO-ELDRED 2

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Tori Miller went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored to help Coudersport hand Otto-Eldred its second loss of the season with a 6-2 victory at home.

The win for the Lady Falcons came just a day after Otto-Eldred beat them, 12-2, in Duke Center.

Shaelyn Black hit a two-run home run for Coudersport while Emma Saulter went 2-for-3 including a double and an RBI. Claudia Miller doubled with a pair of runs scored and Paiton Whipple drove in a run on a base hit.

Emma Sheeler hit a home run and went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI to pace the Lady Terrors. Autumn Smith and Haylee Frederick each doubled while Reilly Raught and Abby Wolf each had a pair of hits.

Black earned the win in the circle for Coudersport with six strikeouts while allowing two runs on eight hits.

Wolf had two strikeouts in the loss for Otto-Eldred.

WEST BRANCH 10, CURWENSVILLE 0, 5 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Sarah Betts drove in two runs while going 2-for-3 with a run scored to help visiting West Branch defeat Curwensville, 10-5 in five innings.

Morgan Glace went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for the Lady Warriors while Ruthie Betts went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored. Elishea Reed had a pair of hits and Julie Hemag scored twice.

The Lady Tide were paced by Abby Pentz’s triple and Lauren Tozer’s double.

Emma Miller had a strikeout and gave up five hits in the win for West Branch.

Joslynne Freyer took the loss for Curwensville.

JOHNSONBURG 6, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 5

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Lindsey Kocjancic and Alyssa Kasmierski each had two hits and two RBIs to help Johnsonburg defeat visiting Elk County Catholic, 6-5.

Jordan Bundy homered while going 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI for the Rametts while Isabella Galbo went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Mackenzie Freeman and Jenna Pavlock each had a pair of hits and Michaela Herzing drove in a run.

Michelle Gerber and Rosina Nero each doubled and went 2-for-4 to pace the Lady Crusaders offense. Maddie Taylor singled and drove in two runs while Sady VanAlstine went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Julie Peterson got the win for Johnsonburg striking out seven batters while allowing five runs on nine hits.

Gerber struck out two and gave up three runs on 10 hits in the loss for ECC.

BASEBALL

MONITEAU 18, UNION 2, 4 INNINGS

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Getting production up and down the lineup, Moniteau went on the road and picked up an 18-2, four-inning win over Union.

Seven of the nine Warrior batters had RBIs and eight of the nine had hits in the victory.

Hunter Fitzingo (3-for-4, 3B, 3 runs scored, 3 RBIs) and Gage Neal (3-for-4, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI) each had three hits to lead the attack, while Jared Lominski (2-for-4, 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs), Mason Mershimer (2-for-3, 2B, BB, 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs), Nate Tack (2-for-4, 3 runs scored) and Lee DeMatteis (2-for-2, HR, BB, 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs) each added a pair of hits. Chance Nagy and Luke Pry each drove in a pair of runs as well.

Luke Bowser went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Union with Reice Saylor scoring both of the Golden Knights runs after drawing a pair of walks.

DeMatteis got the win going three innings allowing two earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two. Branson Carson threw a scoreless fourth walking one and striking out the side.

Brock Jordan took the loss.

OTTO-ELDRED 8, BRADFORD 0

BRADFORD, Pa. – Jacob Merry tossed a one-hit shutout and also drove in three runs to lift visiting Otto-Eldred to an 8-0 win over Bradford.

Merry needed 93 pitches to go seven innings. He walked five and hit a batter while striking out five. On offense, Merry was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and the three RBIs.

Chase Sebastian was also 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run scored and an RBI for the Terrors with Jacob Bell going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Andrew Sheeler and Cole Sebastian each scoring twice.

Peyton Manion had Bradford’s lone hit.

Michael Gow took the loss pitching two innings giving up five runs, only one earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out one.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 10, JOHNSONBURG 0, 5 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic won its seventh game in a row, 10-0 in five innings, over visiting Johnsonburg.

Taylor Boland tossed a two-hit shutout, and Hunter Cashmer drove in three runs to pace the Crusaders.

Boland went five innings walking three and striking out one.

Cashmer, meanwhile, was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two runs scored.

Boland helped himself going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs with Will Uberti and Tommy Slay each scoring twice.

Cameron Marciniak and Ethan Wells had the hits for Johnsonburg.

Gabe Watts, the first of four pitchers used by the Rams, took the loss. He pitched two innings giving up two runs, one earned, despite not giving up a hit. He walked two and struck out four.

Austin Green was charged with four runs on four hits and didn’t record an out, Dalton Stahli went two innings giving up four runs, two earned, on four hits and four walks while striking out one and Zack Zameroski pitched ⅔ of an inning striking out one.

OSWAYO VALLEY 6, FRIENDSHIP-CENTRAL (N.Y.) 1

FRIENDSHIP, N.Y. – Gunner Bean went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and an RBI to lead visiting Oswayo Valley to a 6-1 victory over Friendship-Central (N.Y.).

Colton Gietler was also 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored for the Green Wave, while Sawyer Prince singled scored. Noah Wichert drove in a run with Keiya Mastumoto and Pablo Vidal Garcia each scored as well.

Evan Bogart had a pair of hits to pace the Eagles offense. Micah Hosley singled and drove in a run while Garrett Miller went 1-for-1.

Prince had 11 strikeouts and gave up one run on four hits to earn the victory for Oswayo Valley.

Hosley took the loss for Friendship with five strikeouts and six runs allowed on four hits.

BELLEFONTE 23, CLEARFIELD 10, 6 INNINGS

HYDE, Pa. – CJ Funk, Bobby Marsh and Colton Burd each hit home runs to help Bellefonte to a 23-10, six-inning victory over Clearfield.

Burd led the Red Raiders offense going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs. Marsh went 4-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBIs while CJ Lauck doubled with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs. Nick Capparelle (2-for-5, 4 runs scored), Funk (3-for-4, 3 runs scored) and Derek Fravel (2-for-4, 2 runs scored) each drove in four runs as well, and Seth Shuey scored three times and Nick Catalano scored twice.

Hayden Williams was a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs for the Bison while Caullin Reed drove in two runs and had scored twice. Allan Myers and Kyle Elensky each had a pair of hits and an RBI. Harrison Peacock singled and scored two runs.

Jonathan Meyer, Funk and Fravel each pitched two innings on the mound for Bellefonte and combined for three strikeouts while giving up 10 runs on 13 hits.

Clearfield used Hunter Hipps, Nathan Barr, Peacock and Elensky on the mound in the loss.
