May 9 Baseball Roundup: Johnsonburg Scores a Run in the Seventh to Get Road Win at Brockway

JOHNSONBURG 3, BROCKWAY 2

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Ben Ames’ two-strike seventh-inning single gave visiting Johnsonburg a 3-2 win over Brockway.

The Rams trailed 2-1 going to the sixth but tied the game in the sixth with two singles and two walks. Brockway was able to escape further damage when it turned a double play on a Johnsonburg suicide squeeze attempt.

Justin Kasmierski pitched a gem in getting the win. He went seven innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one.

Ames was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jacob Anderson was 2-for-3.

Matthew Clark and Jarrett Esposito had hits for Brockway.

Hunter Antonuccio took the loss going 1 ⅓ innings in relief allowing one run on one hit and three walks while striking out one. Tyler Serafini started and pitched five innings allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out nine.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 11, KANE 5

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Ryan Heary drove in five runs to lead Elk County Catholic to an 11-5 win over visiting Kane.

Heary was 3-for-3 with a triple, a walk, three runs scored and five RBIs.

Brad Dippold and Eric Gerber each added a pair of hits for ECC.

Gerber was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs, while Dippold was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Cyrus Novosel had a triple and two RBIs for Kane, while Ty Stahli added a double. Jake Alcorn scored twice.

Will Uberti got the win going two innings in relief allowing three unearned runs on four hits and a walk. Jordan Nasoni started and went three innings allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out four. Brad Dippold finished up going two innings not allowing a hit or a walk while striking out four.

OSWAYO VALLEY 15, FRIENDSHIP (N.Y.) 0, 3 INNINGS

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Garrett Babcock drove in four runs to help Oswayo Valley to a 15-0, three-inning win over visiting Friendship (N.Y.).

Babcock was 2-for-2 with a triple, two walks and two runs scored.

Gage Babcock added a triple of his own for the Green Wave and was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and three runs scored, while Gavin Babcock and Jacob Karr both doubled.

Gavin Babcock was 1-for-1 with a run scored and Karr went 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI. Colton Gietler added a pair of RBIs for Oswayo Valley going 1-for-2 with a run scored and Theo Henry was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Gage Babcock and Garrett Babcock combined on a three-inning no-hitter. Gage Babcock went two innings striking out four. Garrett Babcock walked one and struck out one in an inning of work.

MONITEAU 10, KEYSTONE 0, 5 INNINGS

BUTLER, Pa. – Jake Jewart drove in three runs and Hunter Fitzingo had three hits to lead Moniteau to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Keystone at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Jewart was 1-for-3 while Fitzingo was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Nate Sosigian also scored twice for the Warriors while going 1-for-3 with an RBI, Josh Adamson was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored and Brice Williams walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice despite not having an official at-bat.

Sawyer Reed was 2-for-2 with a double for Keystone.

Nick Sosigian got the win going five innings allowing three hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Reed took the loss allowing four runs, one earned, on three hits and four walks while striking out one in 3 ⅓ innings of work.

CLEARFIELD 13, CURWENSVILLE 0, 5 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – A nine-run fourth inning allowed visiting Clearfield to get a 13-0, five-inning win at neighboring Curwensville.

Will Myers drove in four runs for the Bison while going 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. He also scored twice.

Ty Bender, Eli Glass and Zane Morgan also had two RBIs apiece.

Bender was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Glass was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Morgan was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Thayne Morgan and Nathan Barr each scored twice as well with Thayne Morgan going 2-for-2 with an RBI and Barr 0-for-2 with an RBI.

Zach Brewer and Josh Terry had hits for Curwensville.

Jakob Sorbera got the win going five innings allowing three hits and a walk while striking out five.

Avery Francisco suffered the loss allowing four runs on two hits and six walks in 2 ⅓ innings of work.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 22, FOREST AREA 0, 5 INNINGS; CLARION-LIMESTONE 17, FOREST AREA 1, 4 INNINGS

TIONESTA, Pa. – Clarion-Limestone outscored Forest Area 39-1 in a doubleheader sweep at West Forest winning Game One 22-0 in five innings and the second game 17-1 in four innings.

Stats from the first game weren’t available, but in the second game Ian Hawthorn and Curven Goheen each drove in three runs, while Drew Beichner and Christian Smith had a pair of RBIs.

Hawthorn was 1-for-4 with two runs scored, while Goheen was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Beichner added a 2-for-3 performance with a walk and a run scored with Smith going 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Colby Himes also doubled and walk while going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, Jake Zacherl was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, Sam Leadbetter was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and four runs scored and Zane Summerville walked three times, drove in a run and scored twice.

Goheen got the win going four innings allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out five.
