This year, Miner, a sophomore in his first year of varsity basketball, made sure it the Raiders didn’t go home empty-handed a third straight season scoring a game-high 15 points in a 54-35 win over Moniteau in the D9 Class 3A boys’ title game at Keystone High School.
Relisten to the game:
“It feels great,” Miner, who reached double digits in scoring for the first time in his varsity career, said. “It feels really good. Two years in a row they’ve lost this game. To bring the seniors here and win it for them, it’s a big deal.”
Brookville (15-8) controlled the game from the start grabbing a 10-3 start after a quarter of play.
“We wanted to set the tone early,” Miner said. “That was just what we were planning to do.”
Miner scored four of those first-quarter points and then continued to attack the Moniteau defense in the second quarter adding six more tallies to help the Raiders expand their lead to 24-13 at halftime.
“We were spreading them out, and I like to attack,” Miner said. “That is my main thing, so I just went there.”

Brookville still led by 12, 35-23, going to the fourth quarter and then put the game away early in the final eight minutes with an 11-2 run that included five points from Miner and four more from Robert Keth.
Keth added 10 points for the well-balanced Raiders with Aaron Park and Jack Krug each scoring nine tallies.
Ethan McDeavitt had a team-best 13 points for Moniteau (13-10), including six in the fourth quarter, while Jared Lomenski added six. The Warriors hurt their chances by going 3 of 14 from the free-throw line while missing 11 in a row at one point.
Brookville advances to PIAA sub-regional play where it will take on the District 5 champion Everett at Pitt-Johnstown Feb. 28.
