North Clarion claims third place in D9 A Girls

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Behind Tori Obenrader and Abbie Schmader, North Clarion rallied from a 5-point halftime deficit to beat Coudersport, 63-59, in the District 9 Class A girls’ consolation game Friday night at St. Marys High School.

The second-seeded She-Wolves (22-4) trailed 39-34 at halftime after being outscored 25-18 in the second quarter by the top-seeded Lady Falcons (22-3).

But Obenrader (8) and Schmader (6) combined to score all 14 of North Clarion’s third-quarter points to help the She-Wolves grab a 48-47 lead after three.

Schmader (5 on 5 of 6 from the line) and Michaela Higgins (6) then combined to score 11 points in the fourth quarter to help North Clarion hang on for the win.

Obenrader finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Schmader added 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sarah Schettler chipped in with seven points, and Sherman and Higgins each had six.

Emily Morey and Haley Keck led Coudersport with 12 points each with Morey adding three steals and three assists. Alyssa Wood chipped in seven points, Ally Easton six points and six rebounds and Kiara Perkins six points for the Lady Falcons.

North Clarion will take on the District 10 champion, either Kennedy Catholic or Cochranton, in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs, while Coudersport will face District 6 champion Blairsville in the PIAA playoffs.
