The wrestling pairings for the Class AA Northwest Regional Tournament have been announced for this weekend at Sharon High School.
District 10 sends its Top 6 finishers and District 9 advances its Top 4 to the tourney that will determine which wrestlers will move on to the PIAA Championship. The Top 4 place winners will advance to wrestle at Hershey’s Giant Center March 10-12.
Wrestling begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday with the first round, followed by the quarterfinals.
In the 106-pound weight class, District 9 champion Keelan Kunselman, a junior from Brockville, faces the winner of the match between Fort LeBoeuf sophomore Issac Crowell and sophomore Cory Bable of Grove City.
D-9 runner-up Blake Passarelli, of Curwensville, will take on Cochranton junior Devan Davis in the quarters while Ridgway sophomore Kyle Bush, third in D-9, will face D-10 runner-up Aaron Gelvin, a sophomore Aaron Gelvin.
Also, Oswayo Valley sophomore Dylan Pesock will face Northwestern freshman John Wheeler in a first-round match. The winner will take on Reynolds freshman Beau Bayless, who has a bye to the quarters.
At 113 pounds, Brookville junior Gavin Park has a bye to the quarters and he will face the winner of the match between Greenville freshman Bryce Knauf and Reynolds Andrew Ischo.
D-9 runner-up Mitchell Overbeck, of Brockway, will wrestle Harbor Creek sophomore Nick Oosterkamp, who placed third in D-10.
Ridgway sophomore Bryce Barclay, third from D-9, will battle Maplewood junior Kenyon Andrews, the D-10 runner-up.
Coudersport junior Trevor Olney, who placed fourth in D-9, will wrestle Lakeview junior Derick Uber in the first round with the winner opposing Fort LeBoeuf senior Abe Guarriello.
At 120 pounds, Brockway senior Ryan Carlson, the District 9 champ, has a first-round bye and will take on the winner of the match between Jamestown senior Faris Messai and Greenville junior Braydon Knauf.
D-9 runner-up Lukas McClain will battle Reynolds junior Gage Bayless in the quarters while Port Allegany sophomore Trey Stiles will wrestle Habor Creek Mark-Samuel Sallot in the first round. The winner gets Fort LeBoeuf senior Charlie Lenox, the D-10 champ, in the quarters.
D-9 fourth-place finisher Kai Sorbin, a sophomore from Brookville, will wrestle Cambridge Springs freshman Tye Varndell, the D-10 runner-up.
In the 126-pun weight class, D-9 champ Tanner Altobelli, a senior from Redbank Valley, has a bye to the quarters. There, he will wrestle the winner of the first-round match between Lakeview Owen Clayton and Corry senior Jonathan Hammond.
Brockway senior Mason Lindenmuth, the D-9 runner-up, will wrestle Jamestown senior Hunter Goodlin in the quarters. Ridgway junior Drew Baumgratz, third from D-9, will take on North East sophomore Garrett Kopp.
For Coudersport sophomore Dustin Kudrick, fourth in D-9, will take on Northwestern freshmen Caiden Mooney with the winner advancing to the quarters to meet Reynolds sophomore Cole Matthews, who won D-10.
At 132 pounds, Raiders senior Taylor Ortz has a bye to the quarters. There he will battle the winner of the match featuring Sharpsville Brock Salvatore and Conneaut freshman Peyton Hearn.
For D-9 runner-up Logan McClain, of Ridgway, the sophomore will face Slippery Rock sophomore Mike Doerflinger in the quarters.
Cranberry junior Josh Hancock, third from D-9, will battle Greenville junior Michael Lineman in the quarters. Johnsonburg sophomore Devon Norlin, fourth in D-9, battles Union City senior Dustin Weilacher in the first round with the winner facing Reynolds junior Chaise Hauck.
For the 138-pound bracket, Brockville senior Cole Aaron, the D-9 champ, will face the winner of the match between North East junior Sam Svetz and Habor Creek senior Alek Smith.
D-9 runner-up Adam Shunk, a senior from Smethport, will face Reynolds sophomore Hunter Michaels. Kane freshman Alec English will face Saegertown junior Jude Mattocks in the quarterfinals.
D-9 fourth-place finisher Dustin Jamison, a senior from Brockway, will battle Grove City senior Dalton Meals in the first round with the winner taking on Fort LeBoeuf senior Jarret Carter.
In the 145-pound bracket, D-9 champ James Duffy, a senior from Smethport, has a bye to the quarters. He will wrestle the winner of the match between Union City freshman Gavin Henry and North East Adam Ballew.
D-9 runner-up Julian Smith, the sophomore from Coudersport, will face Seneca senior Chris Hibbler in the quarters. Also in the quarters, Clarion sophomore Colton Rapp will take on Commodore Perry John Mott.
Port Allegany sophomore Jake Kallenborn, fourth in D-9, will face Saegertown senior Dan Zimmerman with the winner battling Reynolds senior Seth Hogue in the quarters.
In the 152-pound bracket, D-9 champ Shae Bloom, a senior from Curwensville, has a bye to the quarters. There he will take on the winner of the match between Seneca senior Adam Fish and Sharpsville junior Nick Enos.
D-9 runner-up Caleb Hetrick, the sophomore from Brookville, will face Sharon senior Giovanni Volpe in the quarters.
Sheffield junior Terrel Williams will face Greenville sophomore Josh Christner and Coudersport junior Gage Arnold will wrestle Hickory senior John Sims in the first round. The winner gets Saegertown senior Nick Monico.
At 160 pounds, Cranberry senior Paul Zacherl has a first-round bye and will wrestle the winner of the match between Franklin senior Tyler Carey and Union City Austin Mattocks.
Port Allegany senior Mac Tanner will see Corry sophomore Tyler Burlew in the quarters, Keystone Chad Rogers will face Sharon junior Nick McClimans and in the first round, Brockville senior Dom Palmer will wrestle Iroquois sophomore Joe Galvin.
In the 170-pound weight class, Brockville sophomore Xavier Molnar has a first-round bye and will take on the winner of Greenville junior Gavin Wilkerson and Conneaut junior Rodger Bone.
In the quarters, Brockway senior Mike Martino will oppose Fort LeBouef freshman Julian Gorring and Port Allegany Josiah Ramadhan will battle Reynolds junior Joel Leise. Clarion junior is slated to face Hickory senior Robbie Thomas in the first round.
At 182 pounds, Brockville junior Noah Cieleski will take on the winner of the match between Greenville sophomore Brenden Calvin and Fort LeBoeuf Drew Rose. Keystone senior Evan Redding will tackle Habor Creek senior Dan Kuhn in the quarters.
Oswayo Valley junior Grant West will wrestle Cambridge Springs senior Hunter Cox in the quarters while Brockway freshman Garrett McClintick wrestles Lakeview junior Solomon Dougherty in the first round.
In the 195-pound weight class, Clarion senior Zach Sintobin will get the winner of the match between Conneaut’s Braden Morris and Reynolds’ Jarod Miller in the quarters.
Brookville’s Dane Clever will get Sharpsville’s Chris Mueller in the quarters and Keystone freshman Tyler Vantassel takes on Cambridge Springs’ Deven Simpson.
In the first round, Brockway sophomore Pierce Yahner will take on Fort LeBoeuf junior Lane Reinwald.
At 220 pounds, Port Allegany senior Ethan Budd has a quarterfinal match with the winner of the match between Habor Creek’s Joe Newara and Lakeview’s Tyler Zebrovious.
Brookville’s Tyler Cook takes on Reynolds’ Cole Rickert in the quarters while Curwensville’s Stephen McClure faces Sharon’s Bryce Laughlin. In the first round, Brockway’s Mark Latuska will face Union City’s Brandon Kent with the winner getting Greenville’s Gage Gladysz.
In the 285-pound bracket, Keystone’s Tyler Beal has a first-round bye before facing the winner of the match between Franklin’s Nick Lallemand and North East’s Jeff Kraemer.
Redbank Valley’s BryLee Shumaker will see Cambridge Springs’ Zach Stafford in the quarters while Ridgway’s Colton McClain will take on Hickory’s Jared Miley.
In the first round, Brookville’s Bryce Town will go against Northwestern’s Jacob Hanson.
