PIAA Releases Times, Locations for Monday’s First Round of Baseball/Softball Playoffs

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The PIAA has released the times and locations for the opening round of the PIAA baseball and softball playoffs, which begin Monday, June 3.

In baseball, five District 9 teams are in three classifications.

In Class 1A, D9 champion Elk County Catholic will take on WPIAL third-place finisher Vincentian Academy at 5:30 p.m. at Showers Field in DuBois, while District 9 runner-up Otto-Eldred will face District 10 champion West Middlesex at 1 p.m. at Neshannock High School outside of New Castle.

Class 2A sees D9 champion Moniteau taking on WPIAL runner-up Serra Catholic at 3:30 p.m. at Showers Field in DuBois and District 4-6-9 second-place finisher Moniteau playing District 5 champion Conemaugh Township at 4:30 p.m. at Somerset High School.

District 9 Class 4A champion Punxsutawney will face WPIAL champion Beaver at 4 p.m. at Michelle Krill Field at Pullman Park in Butler.

In softball, five District 9 teams are in four classifications.

District 9 1A champion DuBois Central Catholic will take on WPIAL third-place finisher Leechburg at 5 p.m. at Heindl Field in DuBois with the District 9 runner-up Clarion taking on District 10 champion Commodore Perry at 12:30 p.m. at Slippery Rock University.

In Class 2A, District 9 champion Cranberry will face WPIAL third-place finisher Freedom at 1 p.m. at Heindl Field in DuBois.

Clearfield, the District 9 Class 3A champion, will take on District 5 champion Chestnut Ridge at 3 p.m. at Heindl Field in DuBois.

Class 4A champion and defending state champion Punxsutawney will start its title defense against WPIAL champion Elizabeth Forward at 3 p.m. at Peters Township High School.
