PIAA Sets Sites For Thanksgiving Weekend Football Games

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Three District 9 football teams are still alive in the PIAA playoffs, and all three found out information on their next games Sunday.

Class 1A champion Ridgway, fresh off the D9 title-game victory over Elk County Catholic, will open PIAA play against District 10 champion Farrell at 7 p.m. Friday at Slippery Rock University’s Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Kane, the D9 2A champion, who beat Chestnut Ridge Friday in the PIAA first round, will take on District 10 champion Wilmington, who is coming off a blowout win over Sharpsville in the D10 title game Saturday, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

In Class 3A, Karns City, coming off a win over Hickory in the first round of the PIAA playoffs, will take on District 6 champion Central-Martinsburg at 7 p.m. Friday at DuBois’ Mansell Stadium.

The winners of all three games advance to the PIAA semifinals.
