PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh softball head coach Holly Aprile and her staff have announced the dates and times for 2016 Summer Camps. The camps will be held at Vartabedian Field, located in the Petersen Sports Complex at the University of Pittsburgh.

There will be three camps offered this summer including a general skills camp, advanced pitching and catching camp, and an all-skills camp. Camp is open to any and all entrants limited only by age, grade level, and/or gender.
General Skills Camp | June 14-15
The general skills camp will place June 14-15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This camp is designed for girls entering grades 5-8 and will help participants learn what it takes to be an offensive and defensive threat on the softball field. The Pitt coaching staff and players will be on hand to instruct various drills and techniques for athletes of all levels, focusing on skills including the mechanics and fundamentals of hitting, short game and base running, defensive fundamentals, and fielding ground balls along with catching fly balls.
Advanced Pitching and Catching Camp | June 16
The camp will be held on June 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for girls entering grades 8-12. All aspects of pitching and catching will be covered in this camp, but will specifically focus on drills for pitchers to increase speed and balance in the pitching motion along with advanced movement pitches. Catchers will work on the fundamentals of catching, receiving and blocking, and plate coverage with various drills.
All-Skills Camp | July 11-12
An all-skills camp for players entering grades 9-12 on July 11-12 will be the final summer camp offered. Each day of camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a lunch break from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Every player will be taken through various drills relating to their chosen position and necessary skills. All positions will be covered in depth including infield, outfield, pitching and catching. Participants will also work on their offensive skills such as the mechanics of hitting, short game, and base running.
The Pitt Softball summer camps are a great way for aspiring softball players to take their game to the next level, both offensively and defensively. Campers can expect a collection of drills focused on improving their overall skillset. All of these skills will be taught by the Pitt coaches and players.
