BRYAN DWOREK – JUNIOR – BROOKVILLE
Son of: Chris & Kristie Dworek (Dad is an assistant football and baseball coach at Brookville)
Sports Played: Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track & Field
2016-17 Highlights: Bryan had a strong sophomore season in four sports for the Raiders. In track & field, he helped Brookville to the D9 2A title by winning the long jump (22-1), finishing fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.50) and running a leg on the second-place 4×100-meter relay team that qualified for the PIAA championships. In baseball, he was the centerfielder on Brookville’s D9 2A title team that went to the PIAA semifinals hitting .338 with a double, eight RBIs, 22 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. On the mound, he was 1-4 with a 2.83 ERA. He struck out 20 in 29 ⅔ innings of work. In basketball, Bryan helped Brookville to a second-place ending in D9 3A by averaging a team-leading 9.6 ppg that included scoring in double digits nine times in 20 games. In football, he had over 300 yards receiving while intercepting four passes on defense.
Post-High School Goals: Bryan plans on going to college for either engineer or medical field. He really wants to play a sport in college but is not sure what sport yet.
Q&A With Bryan Dworek
D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
BD: I like all the sports I play about the same. My teammates and coaches make the sports I do really fun.
D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
BD: Probably going to states for track as a freshman. I hope to keep improving each year in track.
D9: Why do you play high school sports?
BD: I think it builds relationships better and prepares you for life. Each sport is different but all of them have one goal and that’s to succeed.
D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
BD: I really enjoy watching Jack Krug play Basketball and Football. He is only a freshman but he has great talent. He always wants to get better and works hard.
D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
BD: I like playing pickup basketball games with the wrestlers. Even though they aren’t the greatest it’s still fun watching them play.
D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
BD: Hawaii. I love the ocean and have always wanted to go there.
D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
BD: My dad. He’s been a role model for me ever since I was a kid. Listening to all his sports stories made me want to get better.
D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
BD: It’s not too big and there’s lots to do.
D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
BD: Either a turf football field or a nice mini golf course.
D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
BD: If I had a superpower what would it be? To fly.
D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
BD: My older sister, Brenna. She played Soccer, basketball, softball and track. So she was another inspiration of mine growing up.
