Player Profile: Drew Gatesman, North Clarion

DREW GATESMAN – SENIOR – NORTH CLARION

Son of: Matt and Lori Gatesman
Sports Played: Basketball and Baseball
Family Members Playing/Played Sports: His dad played baseball at North Clarion both his sisters, Taylor and Abby (his twin) have played high school sports.
2018-19 Highlights: Scored 18 points for the District 9 Class 1A runner-up Wolves during basketball season. Also helped North Clarion to the District 9 baseball playoffs.
Post-High School Plans: He plans on attending college, he is not sure on a major yet but plans on playing intramural sports when I get there.

Q&A With Drew Gatesman

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
DG: Basketball would have to be my favorite sport to participate in because the environment you play in is unmatchable and playing with my friends on the court it the most fun I have.

D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
DG: My favorite memory/game from high school was a playoff game against CL at clarion high school that sent us to the D9 championship game. It was a game we were really excited about and the environment that night was amazing, and when we won we stormed the court and it was a moment and feeling I will remember forever.

D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
DG: I play high school sports because its really cool to be with your life long friends, all shooting for a goal in a sport you all love. And it has brought me some of my best memories from high school

D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
DG: My dad has the most impact on my athletic career, he was the one who taught me to hit and catch for baseball and has helped me to become the player I am today in baseball, and for basketball has always played with me in the driveway getting my rebounds and helping me improve my game.

D9Sports: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be and why?
DG: I would have them make half-court shots during games worth 4 points, cause that’s my sweet spot.

D9Sports: If you could be president for a day, what would be the one major thing you would do?
DG: I would Make a national holiday for Honoring Myself.

D9Sports: What is your ideal place to live? County, City, Suburb? Why?
DG: I would live in the Suburbs because I like going to the city as well as going into the woods.

D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
DG: It would be a struggle for you to find a movie I haven’t seen.

D9Sports: What is your strongest subject in school?
DG: My strongest subject in school would have to be Math.

D9Sports: If there was one period in history or one event in history you could go back to, what would it be?
DG: I would go back in time to see the launch of the Apollo 11, I think that would be really cool to see.

D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
DG: I wish you would have asked me what I was most excited for in the upcoming season for my last year of high school sports. I would tell you I’m excited for people to see what our team is going to accomplish this year. We plan to exceed expectations.
