ELLIE THOMPSON – SENIOR – A-C VALLEY
Daughter of: Shane and Nicole Thompson
Sports Played: Golf, basketball, track and field
2016-17 Highlights: Thompson earned second-team All-District 9 honors in basketball after leading the Falcons and finishing fourth in District 9 in scoring at 19.4 ppg including scoring a season-high 30 points vs. Union. She helped A-C Valley to the PIAA playoffs. In golf, Thompson finished eighth in D9 shooting at championship-round score of 107, and in track she was eighth in the 200-meter dash (27.96) and 12th in the long jump (15-feet) while running on a pair of Top 5 relay teams (4th place 4×400-meter team and 5th place 4×100-meter team).
Post High School Goals: She is undecided about what college she would like to attend, but if the option to play sports in college is available, she may consider it.
Q&A With Ellie Thompson
D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
ET: Basketball
D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
ET: Playing at Clarion University (in the District 9 semifinals)
D9: Why do you play high school sports?
ET :I play high school sports because it is something that I enjoy and it is a big part of my life.
D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
ET :I enjoy watching Olivia Boocks play because she sees the court so well and is a very successful/talented player and an excellent teammate.
D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
ET :Pickup sports.
D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
ET :I would probably go to Italy because it seems like a very interesting place with lots to do.
D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
ET :My parents would have the most influence on me, they have always supported/motivated me in everything I do and have helped me succeed.
D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
ET :I like the people and the environment of my hometown.
D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
ET :I would change the basketball court, it has seen better days.
D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
ET :Yes. My brother Karac Thompson and cousins Annie and Rachael Viertel have all been involved in high school sports.
