Player Profile: Emily Huff, Karns City

D9Sports.com and EYT Media are doing a series of player profiles on returning high-school athletes this summer. The year in school listed by the athlete is the year the athlete is entering this fall.

EMILY HUFF – SOPHOMORE – KARNS CITY

Daughter of: Jason and Rebecca Huff

Sports Played: volleyball, basketball, softball

2016-17 Highlights: Emily played a key role on Karns City’s District 5-8-9 3A championship softball team hitting .212 with a triple, a run scored and six RBIs while also serving as the team’s catcher. She also appeared in 11 games for the Lady Gremlins District 9 Class 3A championship basketball game scoring her first varsity points (2) vs. Union.

Post-High School Goals: Emily plans to go to college and hopefully play softball.

Q&A With Emily Huff

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
EH: Softball

D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
EH: Winning the District title and being able to be one of the starting freshmen for softball.

D9: Why do you play high school sports?
EH: I love playing sports. I can’t really think of a time I’m not playing. When I’m in the game I do not think about anything else, I just go out and give it my all.

D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
EH: Kristina DeMatteis because she is a very good catcher and player all around.

D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
EH: Hang out with friends.

D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
EH: I would go to Mexico because I would like to see all the different culture.

D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
EH: My dad.

D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
EH: I like that it is a small community where everyone knows each other.

D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
EH: I wish there were more opportunities for different things.

D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
EH: What is your favorite position? Catcher.
