Mackenzie Dunn – Sophomore – Karns City
Daughter of: Russ and Christina Dunn
Sports Played: Volleyball, Softball, Track & Field
2016-17 Highlights: Mackenzie was one of the top hitters on Karns City’s District 5-8-9 3A championship softball team hitting .400 with two home runs, two triple, four doubles, 13 runs scored and 18 RBIs. She also ran a leg on Karns City’s third-place D9 2A 4×800-meter relay team.
Post-High School Goals: She plans on going to college and would love to have the chance of playing softball in college. She is still thinking of what she wishes to major in.
Q&A With Mackenzie Dunn
D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
X: Softball is my favorite sport by far. I put a lot of time into it. Softball has given me the chance to meet new people and has given me many opportunities.
D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
X: In softball when we won the district 5/8/9 game it was pure joy and excitement since it was such a close game.
D9: Why do you play high school sports?
X: I play high school sports because I love being active.
D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
X: Alyssa Stitt is always fun to watch she is always giving 100 percent in all of her sports.
D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
X: I would rather hang out with my friends.
D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
X: I would like to travel to Brazil to see the rainforest and the different culture.
D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
X: My dad has had a big influence on me as a person. He has always pushed me to be my best and guides me in the right direction when I am faced with challenges.
D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
X: What I like most about my hometown is how friendly everyone is and how peaceful it is.
D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
X: Something that I wish I could change would be to have more of my friends closer to where I live.
D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
X: A question that I wished you would have asked me would be how I train for my sports.
The sports I play other than softball help me condition. Volleyball helps me be aggressive, while track keeps me in shape. Also on the offseason, I go to the gym to keep myself strong.
