MARCY SCHINDLER – JUNIOR – BROOKVILLE
Daughter of: Mark and Carol Schindler
Sports Played: She played basketball and softball last year but is planning on just playing basketball this year.
Family Members Playing/Played Sports: Her parents both played basketball, her brother, Kurt Schindler, played basketball and her brother Conrad Schindler, played football.
2017-18 Highlights: She helped lead the Lady Raiders to the District 9 Class 3A hoops championship and a berth in the second round of the PIAA playoffs. She was named a third-team All American Awards & Engraving D9Sports.com player after averaging 10.5 points, 8.7 rebounds. 2.3 blocks, 2.2 steals and 1.8 rebounds per game.
Post-High School Plans: After high school, she plans on going to college for four years and earning a bachelor’s degree, then go on to medical school and earn a doctorate degree.
Q&A With Marcy Schindler
D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
MS: My favorite sport to participate in is definitely basketball. I love how fast paced it is, and I love working together with my team to play some great ball.
D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
MS: My favorite moment was winning the District 9 3A title.
D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
MS: I play high school sports so I can stay a well-rounded person and learn things like discipline and teamwork, things that I can use outside of sports in the real world.
D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
MS: My family and friends have always been so supportive of my athletics, especially my parents. My coaches have also been a big influence, in both regular season school ball and travel ball. They make me want to work hard.
D9Sports: Do you remember the first sport you played and did you like it right away or did it grow on you?
MS: The first sport I played was softball, I started back in minor league. I really liked it a lot right away, but now I’m way more into basketball.
D9Sports: Do you have a favorite number for a uniform? If so, what is the story behind that number?
MS: My favorite uniform number is 11. This is because my favorite WNBA player, Elena Delle Donne wears this number, and she was the first professional athlete I ever looked up to.
D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
MS: One thing people would be surprised to find out about me if they didn’t know me would be that I love school. Even though I love to play sports, I also love to learn as much as I can.
D9Sports: If you could eat dinner with anyone famous (living or dead) who would it be and why?
MS: If I could eat dinner with someone famous, it would be Steve Carell from The Office, he would be hilarious.
D9Sports: Iphone or Android or Neither and why?
MS: Android. iPhones break too easily.
D9Sports: What is your go-to Social Media and why?
MS: My go-to social media is Snapchat. I can easily talk to all of my friends on there.
D9Sports: What do you like most about high school and why?
MS: The thing I like most about high school is getting to be around my friends and my peers so much. I get to see them basically every day for nine months straight.
D9Sports: What do you like least about high school and why?
MS: The thing I like least about high school is waking up so early.
D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
MS: I wish you would have asked me if there were any other sports that I like to play outside of school. I like to play tennis, and pickleball, which is similar to tennis.
