Player Profile: Matthew Clark, Brockway

MATTHEW CLARK – JUNIOR – BROCKWAY

Son of: Rick and Tricia Clark (Dad is the boys’ basketball coach at Brockway)

Sports Played: Football, basketball and baseball

2016-17 Highlights: Helped Brockway to the D9 Class 2A baseball title game and a second-place finish by hitting .375 with three doubles, a triple and seven RBIs. His OPS was .962. In football, saw limited action and did make a catch for three yards.

Post-High School Goals: He would like to attend college and play baseball if possible.

Q&A With Matthew Clark

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
MC: Baseball

D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
MC: Playing in the D9 championship against Brookville in baseball.

D9: Why do you play high school sports?
MC: I’ve always enjoyed playing sports. I grew up watching sports. Sports has created many friendships for me, and I create memories and bonds with many people because of sports.

D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
MC: Zane Puhala, one of my teammates, goes all out every single second of a game and is electrifying. He’s a lot of fun to play with and watch.

D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
MC: Hang out with friends

D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
MC: Anywhere on a cruise ship. Cruises are my favorite vacations.

D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
MC: My dad.

D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
MC: I met all of my friends at an early age and we are all still great friends. We all grew up together because we are such a small town.

D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
MC: There isn’t much to do in our hometown so I wish there was a lot more to do.

D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
MC: Why did you pick your favorite sport?
Answer: baseball is my favorite sport because it is my best sport. It is something I enjoyed playing at a young age. There is nothing like hearing the sound of the bat when you hit the ball hard. Baseball is something I work on and something I want to excel at. I love all of the sports I play, but baseball is definitely my favorite sport.

D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
MC: My father played football, baseball, and basketball at Brockway. He is now the head boys basketball coach at Brockway.
