Punxy Baseball Receives Forfeit from Obama Academy in PIAA Play-In Game Scheduled for Wednesday

PITTSBURGH – The Punxsutawney baseball team won’t have to play its way into the PIAA 3A Tournament after all.

The Chucks were scheduled to travel to Pittsburgh Wednesday to take on District 8’s Obama Academy in a PIAA play-in game, but Obama notified Punxsutawney Tuesday that it would be forfeiting the game.

Punxsutawney (17-4) will now move into the PIAA playoffs where it will meet the WPIAL runner-up, Blackhawk, Monday at a site and time to be determined.
