VOLLEYBALL

CLARION 3, A-C VALLEY 0

CLARION, Pa. – In a matchup of two of the top programs in District 9, Clarion swept A-C Valley (27-25, 28-26, 25-17) in a hard-fought match for both sides.

Maddie Schill led the Lady Cats with 14 kills and either led or tied the squad in kills in each of the three sets recording five in the opening set, four in the second set and five in the third set. She also had eight digs, two blocks and two aces.

Schill, who was named the Hager Paving Player of the Game, talked about the victory.

Also for Clarion, Hailey Sintobin and Korrin Burns each recorded nine kills with Burns adding eight digs and seven aces and Sintobin a pair of blocks, while Dorothy Kalinowski had five kills and three blocks.

Brenna Campbell ran the offense with 36 set assists and added two digs with KK Girvin contributing 11 digs.

Olivia Boocks had 16 kills for A-C Valley with Kylee Eaton adding 11. Boocks completed a double-double with 19 digs with Eaton adding nine digs and two blocks

Emily Wetzel ran the offense with 20 assists. Kaylie Merwin chipped in six digs and four assists with Andrea Meals recording three blocks to go with four kills and five digs.

KANE 3, BRADFORD 2

KANE, Pa. – Ella Marconi had 25 kills, 14 digs and four blocks to help Kane win a 3-2 (17-25, 25-17, 25-12, 18-25, 15-11) thriller over visiting Bradford.

Kalen Johnson and Lexie Wood each tallied 15 digs for the Lady Wolves.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, JOHNSONBURG 1

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic rallied to defeat Johnsonburg, 3-1 (11-25, 25-23, 27-25, 26-24).

Taylor Newton had 25 kills and Hanna Barnett had eight kills for the Lady Crusaders. Ellie Fledderman had a game-high 34 assists.

KEYSTONE 3, UNION 1

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Thanks to 11 kills, two blocks and six digs by Alyssa Dunlap, Keystone defeated Union, 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 25-20).

Mandy Wingard tallied 17 digs and two aces while Danae Hurrelbrink led the Lady Panthers with five blocks.

For Union, Morgan Cumberland had 20 assists, Dominika Logue added 11 kills, Bryn Davis had eight kills and three aces and Marli Hawk added two aces.

BROCKWAY 3, CURWENSVILLE 1

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Brockway defeated Curwensville, 3-1 (25-23, 25-12, 12-25, 25-23).

Abby Alford and Mikayla Duffalo led the Lady Rovers with 11 kills each.

Liz Matthews paced Curwensville with nine kills, two digs, four blocks and an ace while Tarah Jacobson had five kills, seven digs, one block and four aces.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 3, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 1

DUBOIS, Pa. – Punxsutawney defeated DuBois Central Catholic, 3-1 (12-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-17).

Alyssa Bittner had 10 kills and two blocks for the Lady Cardinals while Shay Gulvas tallied four aces and a game-high 36 digs. Jordy Kosko chipped in for five kills.

Punxsutawney stats weren’t available.

CRANBERRY 3, KARNS CITY 1

SENECA, Pa. – Behind 13 digs and 10 kills from Malliah Schreck, Cranberry defeated visiting Karns City, 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16).

Abby Hanna had 11 kills, a dig and two blocks for the Berries. Ally Young tallied 10 digs and two kills while Emily Duncan chipped in for five digs and a game-high 28 assists.

Emily Wolfe paced the Lady Gremlins with 10 digs and six kills. Rayana Miller had eight kills and Emma Clark chipped in for five kills and seven digs.

RIDGWAY 3, SHEFFIELD 0

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Ridgway took care of visiting Sheffield, 3-0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-11).

Megan Johnson tallied 12 assists for the Lady Wolverines while Marissa Grubbs chipped in for 11 digs.

Ridgway’s stats were not available.

MONITEAU 3, VENANGO CATHOLIC 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Moniteau swept Venango Catholic, 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-21).

Samantha Broerman had three kills and four blocks while Dolcey Shunk tallied five digs for the Lady Warriors.

Chenoa Rudder paced Venango Catholic with 10 digs and Emma Ekis had seven digs and five kills.

CAMERON COUNTY 3, NORTHERN POTTER 1

ULYSSES, Pa. – Thanks to 12 assists, three aces and five digs from Tapanga Allison, Cameron County defeated Northern Potter, 3-1.

Hailey Hilfiger tallied four digs and six kills for the Lady Red Raiders and Morgan Lorenzo had five digs, seven kills and two aces.

Megan Hyde paced Northern Potter with 10 digs and five aces while Savannah Herring had two blocks and five kills. Courtney Martin led the team with four blocks.

NORTH CLARION 3, FOREST AREA 0

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – Katie Burkett and Megan Baumcratz combined for 11 aces to help North Clarion to a 3-0 (25-5, 25-4, 25-14) win over visiting Forest Area.

Burkett had six aces with Baumcratz adding five. Burkett also chipped in a pair of kills with Baumcratz adding three kills. Also for the She-Wolves, Quahah Seals had two kills

BOYS SOCCER

PORT ALLEGANY 3, RIDGWAY 0

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Balanced scoring helped Port Allegany defeat Ridgway, 3-0.

Kylar Carpenter netted the first goal for the Gators in the first half. Noah Costa and Caleb Lutz each tallied a goal in the second half. Shawn McNeil assisted on the Carpenter and Costa goals.

KARNS CITY 3, REDBANK VALLEY 0

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Two goals from Dakota King helps Karns City defeat Redbank Valley, 3-0.

Austin Fahlor recorded a goal and an assist for the Gremlins. Owen Callwell also had an assist.

Jake Weckerly recorded his fourth shutout in net.

ATHENS 6, NORTHERN POTTER 0

ATHENS, Pa. – Athens used balanced scoring to defeat Northern Potter, 6-0.

Luke Arnold tallied two goals in the first half for Athens with David Scheftic and Aaron Lane netting a goal apiece. Jessie Sumners scored twice in the second half. Willey Tilley had two assists.

GALETON 10, COUDERSPORT 3

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Isaiah Shuemaker scored eight times to lead visiting Galeton to a 10-3 win over Coudersport.

Joel Griffin and Evan Brooks also tallied goals for the Tigers.

Aristotle Smith had a pair of goals for COudersport with Kameron Leopold also scoring for the Falcons.

SLIPPERY ROCK 4, BRADFORD 1

BRADFORD, Pa. – Thanks to a pair of Ryan Davis tallies, visiting Slippery Rock beat Bradford, 4-1.

James Gallagher and Ian Balmquist also scored for the Rockets.

Ian Grady had the goal for Bradford with Evan Schmidt making 13 saves in a losing effort.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 5, KEYSTONE 3

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Kyle Schonbachler scored three times to lead Clarion-Limestone to a 5-3 win over visiting Keystone.

Isaac Kim assisted on a pair of Schonbachler’s tallies with also adding helper on an Austin Coull goal. Coull also had an assist on a tally by Johannes Kuehn.

Ben Murtha stopped six shots in net for the win.

Keystone goal scorers weren’t reported.

GIRLS SOCCER

ST. MARYS 3, DUBOIS 2

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Carlee Ginther netted two goals to lift St. Marys over DuBois, 3-2.

Kayla Johnson also scored a goal for St. Mary’s.

Charlie Renwick paced the Lady Beavers with two goals.

KARNS CITY 2, REDBANK VALLEY 0

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Karns City defeated visiting Redbank Valley, 2-0.

Hunter Dittman and Maura King tallied a goal apiece for the Lady Gremlins.

BROCKWAY 8, CURWENSVILLE 0

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Chanell Britten scored a hat trick and added an assist in Brockway’s 8-0 victory over visiting Curwensville.

Morgan Lindemuth and Callie Barber had two goals apiece and Danielle Wood tallied a goal for the Lady Rovers. Morrigan Decker recorded two assists and Katie McMeekin had three assists.

Goalkeeper Mackenzie Overbeck had six saves in net and Wood had three to combine on the shutout.

BROOKVILLE 2, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 1

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Brookville rallied to defeat Elk County Catholic, 2-1.

Jillian Taylor netted both goals for the Lady Raiders. Leila Heagy assisted on the first Taylor goal.

Maddie Kear assisted on the Gina Carnovale goal for the Lady Crusaders.
