HARRISBURG, Pa. – Ten District 9 football players – nine in Class 1A and one in Class 3A – were named All-State Monday by the Pennsylvania Football Writers.
The Class 1A, 3A and 5A teams were released Monday with the 2A, 4A and 6A teams being released Tuesday.
In Class 1A, District 9 champion Ridgway had a pair of All-State players in senior defensive lineman Justin Kasmierski and junior defensive back Neil MacDonald.
District 9 semifinalists Clarion-Limestone and Curwensville each had three All-State performers.
Representing the Lions were quarterback Brenden Makray, wide receiver Sam Leadbetter and offensive athlete Mike Macefe, while representing the Golden Tide were running back Nick Stewart, offensive lineman Steven McClure and defensive athlete Eli Jacobs.
Redbank Valley defensive back Brock Barrett gave District 9 two of the four Class 1A defensive backs.
Meanwhile, in Class 3A St. Marys defensive back Jeff Wehler was named All-State.
The Player of the Year in Class 1A was Clairton’s Lamont Wade, in 3A Central-Martinsburg’s Alex Hoenstine and in 5A Armstrong Central’s Zane Dudek.
Coaches of the Year were Bishop Guilfoyle’s Justin Wheeler in Class 1A, Beaver Falls’ Ryan Matsook in Class 3A and Harrisburg’s Calvin Everett in Class 5A.
