4/27/18 Softball Wrap: Cranberry, St. Marys, Punxsy Get Wins Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

SENECA, Pa. – Malliah Schreck hit a pair of home runs and Andrea Watson struck out nine to lift Cranberry to an 11-1, five-inning win over visiting A-C Valley.

Schreck hit solo bombs to left field in the third and fourth innings while Watson struck out seven in a row at one point, including the side in the second and third innings.

Watson ended up giving up one run on two hits and walk and was also 1-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a stolen base.

Schreck went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

The duo talked about the victory.

Cranberry led 3-1 going to the fourth and then scored six runs in the fourth to put the game away.

Natalie Barcinas added a 2-for-4 day with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Libby Kiefer was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and Emily Duncan 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Sydney Rankin had a single, a stolen base and a run scored for A-C Valley with Kylee Eaton adding an RBI groundout.

Sydney Schmidt took the loss going 3 ⅓ innings allowing nine runs, eight earned, on eight hits and three walks. Emily Wetzel went an inning-plus allowing two runs on three hits and a walk.

ST. MARYS 10, CLARION 0, 6 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Maura Fledderman tossed a one-hit shutout to give St. Marys a 10-0, six-inning win over visiting Clarion.

Fledderman walked two and struck out eight.

Maddie Bowes and Britney Shaw each drove in three runs for the Dutch with Bowes going 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Shaw also scoring a run. Maddie LeGrys chipped in a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored for the Lady Dutch.

Kait Constantino had the lone hit for Clarion. She also was the losing pitcher giving up nine earned runs on 12 hits and four walks while striking out two.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 11, HOLLIDAYSBURG 1, 5 INNINGS

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – Kylee Lingenfelter used her bat and her arm to help visiting Punxsutawney to an 11-1, five-inning win at Hollidaysburg.

Lingenfelter got the victory in the circle going five innings allowing one run on two hits while striking out 12.

Lingenfelter also doubled and homered in the victory for the Lady Chucks, while Grace Aikens also went deep. Holly Hartman added a pair of hits, including a double, while Toya Jones, Abby Gigliotti and Madison Stonbraker each had two singles and Sara Weaver three singles.

CURWENSVILLE 9, PURCHASE LINE 4

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Mackenzie Anderson drove in two runs to help Curwensville to a 9-4 win over visiting Purchase Line.

Anderson was 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Lady Tide, while Abby Pentz went 2-for-3 with a triple, two stolen bases and three runs scored, Bailey Bloom 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI and Ariel Zattoni 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Maddie Ober was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Purchase Line with Kristin Zurenko going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Aliya Nichol 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

Rachel LeGars got the win going seven innings allowing four runs, three earned, on 11 hits while striking out five.

Ober took the loss allowing nine runs, six earned, on seven hits and five walks while striking out two in six innings of work.

OTTO-ELDRED 19, BRADFORD 0, 3 INNINGS

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Autumn Smith hit a pair of home runs and drove in eight to lift Otto-Eldred to a 19-0, three-inning win over visiting Bradford.

Smith was 3-for-3 on the day with a three-run inside-the-park home run and a traditional grand slam for the Terrors.

Harlee VanScotter added a 2-for-2 day with a home run, while Alyssa Shelander, Emilee Sheeler and Emilee Smith all added triples.

Sheeler got the win allowing one hit and a walk while striking out one in three innings.

Makenzie Maley took the loss allowing 19 runs on 15 hits and seven walks while striking out three.

JOHNSONBURG 16, SHEFFIELD 4

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Mackenzie Freeman had three extra-base hits and Lindsey Kocjancic drove in four runs to help visiting Johnsonburg to a 16-4 win over Sheffield in a game that went the full seven innings thanks to a five-spot in the seventh for the Ramettes.

Freeman was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored with Kocjancic going 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Michaela Herzing also doubled twice while going 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI, Jordan Bundy was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, Jenna Pavlock was 2-for-5 with three runs scored, Alyssa Kasmierski was 1-for-5 with a double and two runs scored and Maria Jones was 1-for-5 with two runs scored.

Mya Grubbs was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Sheffield with Jerika Dexter going 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored and Faite Smith 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Jones got the win in relief of Bundy. She went 3 ⅔ scoreless innings allowing a hit while striking out three. Bundy went 3 ⅓ innings allowing four earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one.

Marissa Grubbs took the loss allowing 16 runs, 10 earned, on 17 hits and two walks while striking out two.

COWANESQUE VALLEY 14, OSWAYO VALLEY 2, 6 INNINGS

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Brynn Williams and Julia Draper each drove in three runs to lead visiting Cowanesque Valley to a 14-2, six-inning win at Oswayo Valley.

Williams was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored with Draper going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Riley Ortt was also 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Lady Indians.

Karina West was 2-for-2 with a double for Oswayo Valley.
