5/21/18 Softball: Moniteau, Cameron Co. Get Playoff Wins Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Dolcey Shunk had a pair of doubles, walked twice and scored three runs to help fifth-seeded and visiting Moniteau to a 7-3 win over fourth-seeded Curwensville in the District 9 Class 2A first round Monday afternoon.

Amanda Dailey, Lexi Miller and Megan Hepler each drove in two runs for the four-time defending champion Lady Warriors, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and led 7-1 after four.

Dailey was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Miller was 1-for-3 and Hepler was 2-for-4 with a double.

Also for Moniteau, Cassidy Claypoole and Abby Rottmen were both 2-for-4 with a run scored each.

Stewart got the win going 4 ⅓ innings allowing two runs on one hit and three walks while striking out six. Dailey finished off pitching 2 ⅔ innings giving up a run on three hits, two walks and a hit batter while striking out four.

Bailey Bloom had a triple of Curwensville scoring on a Mackenzie Anderson hit, while Abby Pentz was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. Logan Sheeder also walked, was hit by a pitch and scored a run for the Lady Tide with Sabrina Spencer adding a single and a walk and Ariel Zattoni a double and a walk.

Moniteau will play at top-seeded Cranberry at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

CAMERON COUNTY 15, CLARION-LIMESTONE 0, 4 INNINGS

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Kaitlyn Burgett and Laila Smith both homered to help eighth-seeded Cameron County roll to a 15-0, four-inning victory over ninth-seeded Clarion-Limestone.

Burgett was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored with Smith, the winning pitcher, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs.

Alyvia McKimm added a pair of doubles for the Lady Raiders, who scored two in the first, four in the second, five in the third and four in the fourth. McKimm was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Also picking up doubles for Cameron County, which had 19 hits in the game, were Taylor Britton, Allyson Narby and Amily Schatz.

Britton was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, Narby was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Schatz was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Kelsee Reid added a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored for the Lady Raiders, and Julia Aiken had a hit and a run scored.

Smith, meanwhile, went four shutout innings allowing four hits and two walks while striking out four.

Megan Stahlman, Cassidy Makray, Karleigh Aaron and Ori Walter had singles for C-L.

Aaron took the loss going 3 ⅔ innings giving up 15 runs on 19 hits while striking out five.

Cameron County will play at top-seeded DuBois Central Catholic at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
