Curwensville Baseball Gets Shutout; D9 Softball Teams Lose Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Bryce Timko and Jake McCracken teamed up on a four-hit shutout, as Curwensville topped visiting West Branch, 3-0, Friday.

Timko got the win going 5 ⅓ innings allowing three hits and three walks while striking out 10. McCracken recorded the save going 1 ⅔ innings allowing a hit while striking out one.

Ralph Evans was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Golden Tide, while McCracken and Zach Brewer had RBIs.

Ayden Gutierrez took the loss going four innings allowing two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out four. Josh Cantolina threw two innings allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk while striking out four. Gutierrez also had one of the West Branch hits.

ST. FRANCIS DE SALES 11, MONITEAU 1

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Taylor Shultz and Cassidy Claypool had hits for Moniteau, but the Lady Warriors dropped an 11-1 decision to St. Francis de Sale (Ohio) Friday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Shultz, just a freshman, also scored a run for the Lady Warriors.

TYRONE 18, CLEARFIELD 8

HYDE, Pa. – In a game that saw 13 runs scored in the seventh inning alone, visiting Tyrone bested Clearfield, 18-8.

Tyrone led 10-3 going to the seventh before scoring eight runs in the seventh before the Lady Bison added five of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Aspen Bishop had three RBIs for Clearfield while going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two runs scored. Erica Hanes also added three RBIs for the Lady Bison and was 2-for-4 with a home run and a run scored. Brooke Cline chipped in two hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI, and Makayla Ross had two hits.

Abby Fedder took the loss allowing 18 runs, only nine earned, on 17 hits and a walk while striking out four.

Callie Macenko had five hits for Tyrone, including a two-run home run in the fourth inning, and three RBIs. Emily Hamer added three hits, including a double, with three RBIs, while Emily Lehman had three hits, including a three-run double in the seventh, with Alley Jones picking up three hits and two RBIs.

WEST BRANCH 11, CURWENSVILLE 1

MORRISDALE, Pa. – Skylar Ceprish had a pair of hits, including a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs to help West Branch to an 11-1 win over visiting Curwensville.

Jessica Herring added two hits, including a double, two runs scored and four RBIs for the winners.

Lizzy Scott got the win striking out 11 and allowing one hit in four innings in the circle.
