PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Jenna Dunn picked a great time to have another monster game.
Dunn had 17 digs and nine kills as Clarion-Limestone, the No. 10 seed in the District 9 Class A volleyball playoffs, swept No. 7 seed Port Allegany, 25-20, 25-22, 25-16, on Tuesday night.
Kendall Dunn, playing through a torn ACL, had 15 assists for the Lions.
Alyssa Wiant and Ansley Burke also contributed six kills each in the win.
Clarion-Limestone will take to the road again to square off against Oswayo Valley on Thursday night.
CLARION 3, SHEFFIELD 0
The Bobcats are going to be tough to kill.
Clarion, the two-time defending PIAA Class A champs swept the Wolverines, 25-18, 25-12, 25-13.
The Bobcats, the sixth seed, got 16 kills from Aryana Girvan and 30 assists from Grace Ochs to move on past 11th-seeded Sheffield.
Adia Needham pitched in seven kills for Clarion, which will take on third-seeded Otto-Eldred on Thursday.
COUDERSPORT 3, A-C VALLEY 0
Bella Ielase had 11 kills and 10 digs and Lexi Ruckdeschel also had a strong night with 10 kills and 11 digs, but the Falcons’ season ended with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 loss.
Mackenzie Parks contributed 14 digs and four kills, Jenna Stefanacci 20 assists and Kiera McVay eight digs for A-C Valley (9-8).
Coudersport stats were not reported.
Coudy will move on to play No. 1 seed Elk County Catholic on Thursday.
SOCCER
Jayce Lechien scored in the second overtime as Ridgway stunned Redbank Valley in the Class A quarterfinals, 3-2.
The Elkers, the No. 7 seed, struck first on a goal from Jack Benninger.
But second-seeded Redbank answered back with a pair of goals from Owen Clouse for a 2-1 Bulldog lead.
Sam McCurdy scored the equalizer for Ridgway with less than a minute remaining in the second half to force overtime.
The Elkers will take on Karns City in the semifinals on Thursday.
KARNS CITY 2, COUDERSPORT 1
Hobie Bartoe scored two goals in the first five minutes and Karns City made it hold up.
Coudersport cut the lead to one in the first half on a goal by Jacob Hooftallen.
The Falcons had several golden opportunities to tie the match, but Gremlin keeper Lucas Yasika turned them away.
His leaping save on a shot by Isabel Porterfield with less than two minutes remaining preserved the win.
Yaskika had seven saves.
Karns City (14-3) will host Ridgway on Thursday.
