4/25/18 Softball Wrap: Lingenfelter K’s 16, Walks None, Allows 1 Hit in Punxsy Win Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Kylee Lingenfelter tossed a one-hit shutout while striking out 16 to lead Punxsutawney to a 3-0 win at St. Marys.

Sara Weaver had a double and two RBIs for the Lady Chucks, while Madison Stonbraker added a single and an RBI.

SMETHPORT 8, OTTO-ELDRED 5

SMETHPORT, PA. – Haleigh Larson homered and Abbey Woodard doubled to help lead Smethport to an 8-5 win over visiting Otto-Eldred.

Larson and Woodard were both 2-for-4 in the game.

Emily Smith doubled for Otto-Eldred going 2-for-3 in the contest with Camryn Thomas also going 2-for-3.

Emily Treat got the win allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five.

Alyssa Sheelander took the loss giving up eight runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four.

REDBANK VALLEY 13, FOREST AREA 0

TIONESTA, Pa. — Brooke Holben’s three-run double sparked Redbank Valley’s six-run fifth inning that broke a scoreless tie in what turned out to be a 13-0 win in seven innings over Forest Area at West Forest.

The Lady Bulldogs added two runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh inning to back the shutout pitching of Dakota Hetrick, who tossed a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks.

Hetrick and Kaia Rearick each had two hits. Hetrick drove in three runs.

JOHNSONBURG 17, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 7

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Michaela Herzing drove in six to lift visiting Johnsonburg to a 17-7 win over Elk County Catholic.

Herzing was 3-for-5 on the day with a double, a triple and two runs scored.

Maria Jones added a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored while going 4-for-5 for the Ramettes, while Mackenzie Freeman was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs and Jordan Bundy was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, three RBIs and four runs scored.

Also contributing for Johnsonburg were Amanda Williams with a double, a run scored and two RBI, Isabella Galbo, a hit, a walk and three runs scored and Jenna Pavlock, a hit, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.

Josie Smith had a monster day at the plate for ECC going 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a walk, a run scored and four RBIs. Jenna Weisner also homered for the Lady Crusaders and was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored, and Rosina Nero was 1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Jones got the win in relief of Bundy going four innings allowing five runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out nine. Bundy pitched three innings allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and four walks while striking out two.

ECC used three pitchers with Michelle Gerber taking the loss allowing eight earned runs on eight hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out two in four innings of work. Smith gave up seven earned runs on four hits, two walks and a hit batter in 1 ⅔ innings in the circle and Hanna Barnett pitched 1 ⅓ innings giving up two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two.

GALETON SWEEPS DH FROM NORTHERN POTTER

GALETON, Pa. – Galeton swept a doubleheader from visiting Northern Potter winning by scores of 10-0 in five innings and 8-7.

In the 10-0 win, Regan Fuller was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs, while Haylee Ludington went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs and Eva Olofson 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Makaya Shadle tossed a five-inning one-hitter walking two and striking out eight for the win.

Jenna Hyde had the lone hit for Northern Potter and took the loss allowing 10 runs, six earned, on 11 hits and five walks in four innings.

The nightcap saw Hunter Post go 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Galeton with Madison Sauley going 2-for-3 with a double, Shadle 2-for-4 with three runs scored and Lundington 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Mikayla Lewis was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Northern Potter, while Alyssa Hoopes went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and four runs scored. Alyssa Burchell also was 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs and Hyde scored twice.

Shadle got the win in relief of Fuller going three innings allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six. Fuller allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits and six walks while striking out four in four innings.

Kalie Cowburn took the loss giving up eight runs, four earned, on eight hits, a hit batter and seven walks while striking out two in seven innings.
