9-17 ROUNDUP: A-C Valley Volleyball Wins Again; Bradford’s Frantz Wins Kane Golf Invitational With Clarion’s Kameron and McKayla Kerle Placing Second and Third

FOXBURG, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Lexi Ruckdeschel had 14 kills and 14 digs as the A-C Valley volleyball team won again, this time with a 25-19, 25-10, 25-12 sweep of Sheffield on Saturday morning.

Mackenzie Parks also had seven kills and 14 digs.

Keira McVay four kills and Jenna Stefanacci 22 assists for A-C Valley, which has now won three in a row.

GOLF

Jake Franz shot a 76 at Kane Country on Friday to win the Kane Golf Invitational.

Franz shot a 39 on the front nine and followed that up with a 37 on the back nine.

There were 65 golfers from 18 schools across District 9 at the tournament.

Clarion’s Kameron Kerle was second, one stroke behind Franz with a 77. Kerle carded a 39-37 on the front and back.

His sister, Bobcat senior McKayla Kerle, was third with a 78. She recorded a 38-40.

Four other Clarion golfers shot a sub-90 in the tournament.

Devon Lauer came in with an 83, Lucas Mitrosky an 87, James Keenan an 88 and Tanner Miller an 89.

There was no team competition.

Nick Aaron shot a 90 to lead Clarion-Limestone.

GIRLS SOCCER

Avonworth, the defending District 7 Class 2A champion, shut out Karns City, 4-0, on Saturday.

Avonworth (6-1) has given up just one goal in its last four matches.

Last season, the Antelopes were the PIAA runner-up.

Karns City will travel to Clarion to take on the Bobcats on Monday afternoon.
