9-27 ROUNDUP: Clarion, DuBois Win District 9 Team Golf Titles

BRADFORD, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Kameron Kerle shot an 82, McKayla Kerle an 83 and Devon Lauer an 84 to help the Clarion golf team to a District 9 Class 2A team title Monday afternoon at Pennhill Club.

Lucas Mitrosky had a 92 and Owen Kriebel a 94 to round out the scoring for the Bobcats, who bested second-place Kane by seven strokes.

DuBois claimed the 3A district title behind an 81 by Cody Jaconski and an 86 by Gavin Kaschalk.

Brock Smith had a 91, Landon Gustafson a 93 and Tyson Kennis a 94 for DuBois, which edged second-place Bradford by eight strokes.

The individual qualifier was also held and Moniteau’s Jacob Felsing topped the 2A field with a 76 to emphatically make the cut for Saturday’s individual championships.

Following are the 16 Class 2A golfers who made the cut: Curt Barner, Kane, 80; Luke Benjamin, St. Marys, 80; Max Bizzak, Kane, 82; Kameron Kerle, Clarion, 82; Brady Steich, Coudersport, 83; Devon Lauer, Clarion, 84; Vinnie Lenze, St. Marys, 84; Ethan Carll, Forest, 86; Collin Porter, Ridgway, 86; Eastyn Solveson, Cameron County, 87; Killian Radel, Brookville, 88; Brady Fowkes, Clarion-Limestone, 88; Nick Aaron, Clarion-Limestone, 89; Derek Peterson, Kane, 90; Lucas Mitrosky, Clarion, 92.

Mitrosky earned his spot in the final round by winning a playoff against Dane Wenner of Cranberry and Zeelan Hargenrader of Forest. All three golfers shot a 92. Mitrosky won on the first playoff hole.

Only six Class 3A golfers advanced to the championship round. They are: Spencer Cornelius, Bradford, 76; Cody Jaconski, DuBois, 81; Jake Franz, Bradford, 83; Gavin Kaschalk, DuBois, 86; Eric Fletcher, Clearfield, 88; and Brock Smith, DuBois, 91.

Boys Soccer

Colson Ritzert and Myles McCully each scored a pair of goals for Karns City to lead the Gremlins to a 5-0 win over Redbank Valley.

Lathan Price also scored a goal for Karns CIty (6-1). Luke Yasika earned the shutout in net.

Karns City also won Saturday, downing Sharon, 7-1.

Price and Ritzert had two goals apiece in that victory. Mallick Metcalfe, McCully and Andrew Rottman also found the net.

Jacob Callihan and Price each had two assists and Yasika had three saves in goal.

Girls Soccer

McKenna Martin scored three goals and Emma Dailey added two more as Karns City blanked Redbank Valley, 6-0.

Rossi McMillen also scored for the Gremlins.

Lyrik Reed had two assists and Dailey, Abby Callihan, Addy Christie and Cece Morrow also had assists.

Karns City will travel to Clarion tomorrow.

Volleyball

Hailey Kriebel had 12 kills and four aces as Union outlasted Oil City, 25-21, 25-14, 24-26, 23-25, 15-8.

Dominika Logue added nine kills, nine digs and a pair of aces for the Damsels.

Kennedy Vogle had 15 digs, Cheyenne Dowling five kills and Keira Croyle 16 assists and three aces for Union.
