9-29 ROUNDUP: Redbank Valley Girls Soccer Coach Dawson Moves to Top of School’s Wins List; Exley Shines in Keystone’s Volleyball Victory Over Cranberry

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Alexandra Shoemaker has a big night for the Redbank Valley girls soccer team and so did its coach, Michael Dawson.

Shoemaker scored four goals in an 8-0 victory over Curwensville. The triumph also moved Dawson to the top of the all-time wins list for the Bulldogs’ girls soccer program. Dawson now has 64 wins as the head coach, passing Dave Cherby, who had 63.

“I don’t get to this point without the over abundance of talented players that listened to me spout soccer nonsense at practice/games and who also bought into our system and style of play,” Dawson wrote on his Facebook page. “Some other MVPs are the current and former assistant coaches within this organization that truly help make me look WAY better than I am. I don’t notch this many wins without everybody else involved.

“Now let’s aim for 100 and a couple more district titles before we call it a career.”

Lia Hageter added three goals and Ember Hetrick also found the back of the net for Redbank Valley.
