9-7 ROUNDUP: North Clarion Top Moniteau in Cross Country; Redbank Girls Win Wild Soccer Match Against Clarion

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. (EYT/D9) – Aiden Thomas edged teammate Kaine McFarland to place first in the boys race as North Clarion beat Moniteau 19-36 in cross country action on Wednesday afternoon.

Thomas crossed the finish line at Moniteau in 19 minutes, 33 second. McFarland was a close second at 19:35.

North Clarion had the top four boys finishers. Behind Thomas and McFarland were Gabriel Fair (20:03) and Dane Sliker (21:33).

Moniteau’s top finisher was Allen Matz, who placed fifth at 22:04.

Jenna Zendron of Moniteau won the girls race. Katie Bauer of North Clarion was second.

The girls race was not scored.

GIRLS SOCCER

Alexandra Shoemaker scored the winning goal on an assist by McKayla McGuire as Redbank Valley edged Clarion, 4-3.

Redbank and Clarion were tied 1-1 at the half. The Bobcats scored on a goal by

Lia Hageter scored a pair of second-half goals and Ava Moore also found the net for the Bulldogs.

Hailey Theuret also had an assist for Redbank.

Alexis Coull scored all three goals for Clarion.

GIRLS GOLF

Emma Covert was medalist with a score of 47 as Moniteau edged Cranberry 145-153.

Evie Bliss of A-C Valley and Kendall Findlay of Cranberry were tied for second with a 48.

Autumn Stewart, Kendall Sankey and Taylor Voloch each shot a 49 for the Warriors.

VOLLEYBALL

Lexi Ruckdeschel had 12 kills, 12 digs and four blocks, but A-C Valley was swept by Cranberry 25-15, 25-22, 25-17.

Mackenzie Parks added 14 digs, Bella Ielase four kills and Jenna Stefanacci 22 assists for the Falcons.

No stats were available from Cranberry.
