9-8 ROUNDUP: Clarion Volleyball Earns Another Sweep; Karns City Girls Soccer Rolls

With a 25-15, 25-21, 25-12 win at home over Redbank Valley on Thursday night, the Clarion volleyball team ran its winning streak to 47 consecutive matches dating back to a 3-1 loss to Northern Cambria on Nov. 12, 2019 in the PIAA Class A semifinals.

The Bobcats have won the last two state championships.

Aryana Girvan had 13 kills and Grace Ochs and Taylor Alston combined for 24 assists to lead Clarion.

Alivia Huffman had five kills and 10 digs, Taylor Ripple four kills and Mylee Harmon 10 assists for Redbank Valley (1-3).

KEYSTONE 3, KARNS CITY 0 – Ava Patrick had five kills and a team-high four blocks to lead the Panthers to a 25-18, 25-22, 26-24 win over the Gremlins.

Kennedy Kaye had another strong night at libero with 21 digs and a 13 service points with three aces.

Leah Exley paced Keystone with six kills and also had 15 digs and two aces.

Ava Fox led Karns City with seven kills and also had nine digs. Rosalie Carden added 11 digs, Kendall Ritzert nine assists, four digs and three aces, Nicole Taylor eight digs and Jessica Dunn six digs for the Gremlins.

FRANKLIN 3, A-C VALLEY 1 – Lexi Ruckdeschel had 12 kills and nine digs, but the Falcons fell 26-24, 23-25, 24-26, 14-25.

Mackenzie Parks added 12 digs and five kills and Jenna Stefanacci 15 assists.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, BROCKWAY 0 – Tori Newton had 10 kills and six aces and Madison Marzullo pitched in 10 more kills in the 25-11, 25-17, 25-19 sweep.

Reagan Bauer also had six kills for the Crusaders with Kiri Emmert added 24 assists.

GIRLS SOCCER

Emma Dailey scored three goals and McKenna Martin added two more as Karns City downed St. Marys, 8-2.

Lyrik Reed, Paige Dodd and Hanna Dailey also found the back of the net for the Gremlins. Hanna Dailey also had two assists.
