Tommy Smith Makes Strong Debut, Brayden Murray Homers as Clarion-Limestone Topples Union/A-C Valley

DuBOIS, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Brayden Murray hit a two-run homer and a trio of pitchers combined for a one-hitter as the Clarion-Limestone baseball team downed Union/A-C Valley, 6-2, on Wednesday afternoon.

Tommy Smith, who has been brought along slowly this spring, made his debut and went three innings, striking out five and walking two. He didn’t give up a hit and threw 51 pitches to get the win.

Smith is a Clarion Golden Eagles recruit.

Kohen Kemmer relieved him and also went three innings, giving up two runs — one earned — on the lone Falcon Knight hit of the game.

Logan Lutz closed it out with one hitless, scoreless inning.

Jake Smith went 3-for-4 and Aiden Coulson was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for the Lions (1-1).

Murray also had a double.

Chase Ruth took the loss for Union/A-C Valley (1-1). He went 3⅔ innings, giving up four runs (three earned) and striking out a pair.

DuBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 9, BROCKWAY 0

Aiden Snowberger homered and went 3-for-4 and Carter Himes also had three hits to lead the Cardinals.

Himes got the start and combined with three other hurlers for the shutout win. DCC (2-0) overcame 10 walks.

Blake Pisarcik and Himes each had doubles.

CRANBERRY 5, NORTH CLARION 4

Landon Burgdorfer’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth brought home the eventual winning run to lead the Berries past the Wolves.

Kyle Rusiewicz had three hits for North Clarion.

Hudson Irwin doubled to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the third, but Galla and reliever Morrow quieted the Wolves’ bats the rest of the way.

Hudson Galla went four innings for Cranberry, striking out 10 and giving up four runs on 10 hits. Connor Morrow went three scoreless innings to get the win, striking out six and giving up just one hit.

Ethan Carll also had a double for North Clarion.

Morrow had three hits for Cranberry.

KARNS CITY 6, REDBANK VALLEY 2

Troy Nagel homered and drove in three runs and Mason Sherwin went six strong innings to leading the Gremlins to a win over the Bulldogs.

Jacob Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and also swiped a pair of bases for Karns City (2-0).

Sherwin scattered six hits, striking out six and walking two in his outing to get the win. He gave up two runs, one earned.

Mason Clouse had a multi-hit game and Braylon Wagner had a triple for Redbank Valley (1-1).
