Boys Results

Coudersport 63, Keystone 51

The Falcons controlled the game from start to finish, fending off Keystone 63-51.

Coudersport outpaced Keystone through the first three quarters, taking a 32-22 halftime lead before growing their advantage to 50-36 after three periods of play. The three-ball was key for Coudersport, as the Falcons hit nine threes in the win.

Dalton Keglovits led Coudersport with 19 points, and Hayden Keck scored 17 for the Falcons. Derek Easton added 12 in the win. Logan Sell led Keystone and all scorers with 20 points in the loss. Bret Wingard scored 13 for the Panthers.

Coudersport will advance to the Class AA Finals, where they will face Karns City on Saturday.

Karns City 59, Ridgway 34

Nathan Waltman tallied his 1000th point in Karns City’s big 59-34 win over Ridgway in the Class AA semifinals.

Waltman scored 11 points in the win, putting him over 1000 for his career. Karns City was in control from start to finish, taking a commanding 33-15 lead at halftime and allowing the Gremlins to coast home victorious and without incident. Karns City’s Chase Beighley led all scorers with 18 points. Luke Cramer also added 11 points for the Gremlins.

Jack Benninger and Dan Park each led Ridgway with 10 points apiece. Karns City will face Coudersport in the Class AA final. The game will take place at Karns City on Saturday at 6:00 pm.

Girls Results

Coudersport 43, North Clarion 40

Coudersport jumped out to an eight-point lead the half and narrowly held on for a 43-40 win over North Clarion to advance to the Class A semifinals.

The Falcons scored 28 points in the first half to take a 28-20 lead at the break. In the second half, both teams lost their scoring touch and upped their defense, with both teams combining for six points in the third quarter. North Clarion gradually eroded Coudersport’s lead, but the Wolves’ comeback effort came up just short.

Sierra Myers led Coudersport with 12 points. Sarah Chambers scored eight for the Falcons. Gwen Seigel scored 12 points for North Clarion in the loss.

Coudersport advances to the Class A semifinals, where they will face Port Allegany.

Port Allegany 45, Clarion Area 39

Port Allegany trailed for most of the contest, but some sharp long-range and free throw shooting coupled with Clarion’s foul troubles led to a 45-39 Gators win in the Class A quarterfinals.

Port Allegany trailed by as many as ten in the third quarter but got red hot from beyond the arc to tie the score going into the final stanza. After Clarion’s Erica Selfridge and Noel Anthony fouled out, Port Allegany drained their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Bree Garzel led the Gators with 20 points. Gracie Archer and Evin Stauffer added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Port Allegany. Selfridge led Clarion with 16 points. Anthony also scored eight for Clarion.

Otto-Eldred 60, Union 38

The Terrors used a resounding offensive effort to power through Union, 60-38 in the Class A quarterfinals.

Otto-Eldred scored 10+ points in every quarter, including a 23 point third-quarter that put the game to bed. The Terrors had a 13 point lead at the half, and their big third quarter grew their lead to 24, ensuring their advancement.

The tag-team effort of Otto-Eldred’s Katie Sheeler and Kayley Heller combined for 42 of the Terrors’ 60 points. Sheeler led the way with 22 points, while Heller poured in 20. Dominika Logue led Union in the loss, scoring 14 points.

The Terrors will face Elk County Catholic in the Class A semifinals on Saturday.

St. Marys 43, Clearfield 26

The long-awaited start to the 2021 playoffs finally had arrived, and for the Lady Bison of Clearfield it meant a road trip. But not just any road trip; it was a road trip for a chance to take home a District championship, something the Lady Bison have not done in several years.

To do so, they had to take on the top seeded Lady Dutch of St. Marys, and do so in their gymnasium.

But, the home squad had just as much to gain, and from the start they had no intention of letting it slip away. In a dominant performance, the Lady Dutch captured their first District IX championship since 2012, ending Clearfield’s season with a 43-26 final.
