RIMERSBURG, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Another day, another big honor of Evie Bliss.
The recent Union graduate who won the state title in the javelin for Union/A-C Valley this spring, was named PA MileSplit’s Field Athlete of the Year.

Bliss won the PIAA Class 2A championship in May with a state championship meet record throw of 170 feet, 2 inches. She finished second in the state as a junior.
That throw is the third best all-time in the state in the javelin.
Her throw also ranked second in the nation during the high school season.
“It truly means a lot to be recognized as the field athlete of the year,” Bliss said. “Any athlete will say there’s so much more to being a competitive athlete than what’s seen. It really makes me feel good to be recognized for all the hard work I’ve put in.”
Bliss was also named the Senior of the Year by PA MileSplit.
Bliss is coming off USATF U20 national championship with a throw of 169-11 in Eugene, Ore.
She will compete as a member of Team USA at the 2023 Pan American U20 Championships, which will be held Aug. 4-6 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
