HERSHEY —Seven District 9 wrestlers — six in Class AA and one in Class AAA — won state medals Saturday at the PIAA Wrestling Championships at Hershey’s Giant Center.
In Class AA, Brookville’s Taylor Ortz and Smethport’s James Duffy won their consolation finals bouts to claim third place and Curwensville’s Shae Bloom won his fifth-place bout as did Brockway’s Mason Lindenmuth who finished seventh. Others lost in their medal round bouts, but still medaled. Brookville’s Jimmy Miller and Brockway’s Ryan Carlson were sixth.
In Class AAA, Punxsutawney’s Kaleb Young finished fourth, losing his consolation bout.

113 — Fifth place: Jack Hill, Saucon Valley dec. Ryan Carlson, Brockway, 5-3.
120 — Third place: Taylor Ortz, Brookville maj. dec. John Pipa, Bishop McDevitt, 13-4.
132 — Seventh place: Mason Lindenmuth, Brockway dec. Matt Schmall, Northern Lehigh, 7-5, OT
138 — Fifth place: Shae Bloom, Curwensville dec. Keith Batkowski, Montoursville, 3-0
145 — Third place: James Duffy, Smethport dec. Nick Monico, Saegertown, 3-1
152 — Fifth place: Trent Crouse, Chestnut Ridge dec. Jimmy Miller, Brokville, 3-1.
