RIMERSBURG, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Devon Lauer and Dawson Smail combined for 45 points as the Clarion boys basketball team built a big lead at the half and cruised to a 70-57 road win over Union on Friday night.
Lauer and Smail scored 19 points in a 30-point second quarter for the Bobcats, who led 44-26 at the break.
Lauer ended up with 24 points; Smail 21.
Payton Johnston led Union with 18 points and Zander Laughlin pitched in 14.
Johnston hit four 3-pointer in the third quarter as the Knights tried to make a comeback.
KARNS CITY 70, CRANBERRY 42
Taite Beighley scored 22 points and also had 10 assists as the Gremlins rolled past the Berries.
Micah Rupp added 19 points, 11 rebounds, five blocked shots and four steals and Shane Peters added nine points and nine boards for 5-0 Karns City.
MONITEAU 65, KEYSTONE 53
David Dessicino scored 18 points as the Warriors used a hot start to down the Panthers.
Andrew Zepeda scored 15 points and Aydan Jackson pitched in 14 for Moniteau, which led 20-12 after one quarter and 36-25 at the half.
Kyle Nellis scored 16 points, Drew Keth 13 and Tyler Albright 11 to pace Keystone.
SHARPSVILLE 42, A-C VALLEY 36
Jay Clover scored 18 points, but they weren’t enough as the Falcons fell.
A-C Valley led after three quarters before the Blue Devils pulled ahead late.
Alex Preston added eight points for A-C Valley.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Catherine Kelly scored 18 points and Allie Pry added 14 as Moniteau downed Keystone 62-39.
Davina Pry added nine points and Kendall Sankey eight points and 15 rebounds for the Warriors.
Abbey Jewart also scored six points to go with seven assists.
Natalie Bowser led the Panthers with 17 points and Ashlee Albright chipped in 12.
CLARION 39, UNION 22
Taylor Alston and Sophia Babington each scored 14 points to lead the Bobcats past the Damsels.
Hailey Theuret scored seven points to lead Union.
