Clarion Dominates Selections on PVCA All-District 9 Class A Volleyball Team

CLARION, Pa. (EYT/D9) – Clarion senior outside hitter Korrin Burns is ready for the avalanche of accolades to come her way.

That’s what happens when you are regarded as one of the best volleyball players in the state. That’s what happens when you have helped your team to four consecutive District 9 Class A championships and are two PIAA wins away from a second straight state title.

Last week the first honor of the season came with a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference MVP. Monday, another one came in the form of a Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association District 9 Class A MVP.

Burns doesn’t take any recognition lightly.

“It’s awesome being named MVP, but it’s really hard to be MVP without my teammates,” Burns said. “They truly make my life easier with the passes Jordan Best gives and the sets Noel Anthony gives. It’s really awesome. Even though I was named most valuable, there is still so much room for me to improve. I have a lot of growth to do. I really want to keep working hard and prove myself even more.”

The PVCA agreed with Burns that she couldn’t do it alone. The organization named three of her teammates to the first team: Best, Anthony and junior outside hitter Aryana Girvan.

Burns has raised her game another notch this season, especially recently. She has 541 kills to go with 209 digs and 54 aces.

Anthony, in her first year as the starting setter, has piled up 825 assists for the Bobcats.

Best, also a senior who has missed some time this season, has 92 digs and 21 aces.

Oswayo Valley, which lost to Clarion in the district title match, landed outside Jadyn Brabham and middle Avaree Kellert on the first team.

Elk County Catholic’s Tori Newton, who split her time between outside and setting, rounded out the PVCA first team.
