D9 Releases Softball Brackets

BROCKWAY, Pa. – District 9 has released the 2019 softball playoff brackets.

Brackets: 1A2A3A4A5A

The seeding in Class 1A is as follows:

1. Otto-Eldred
2. Clarion
3. A-C Valley
4. Coudersport
5. DuBois Central Catholic
6. Elk County Catholic
7. Cameron County.

The quarterfinal matchups will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the higher seeds and will see Cameron County at Clarion, Elk County Catholic at A-C Valley and DuBois Central Catholic at Coudersport. The semifinals will be played at a neutral site Thursday, May 23, with the title game being played at Heindl Field in DuBois May 29. If needed, a “true” second-place game may be played of necessary in Class 1A. This means a consolation game will be played between the semifinal losers, and, if, the winner of that game did NOT play the loser of the championship game in the semifinals then those teams will playoff for the second and final PIAA playoff spot awarded to District 9. If the consolation game winner lost to the championship game loser then the true second place game won’t be played and the loser of the title game will advance to the PIAA playoffs.

In Class 2A the seeding is as follows:

1. Redbank Valley
2. Johnsonburg
3. Cranberry
4. Curwensville
5. Kane
6. Moniteau.

Quarterfinal contests will be at 4 p.m. Monday, May 20, and include Moniteau at Cranberry and Kane at Curwensville. The semifinals will be played at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Redbank Valley and Johnsonburg. The title game will be at 4 p.m. May 30 at Heindl Field in DuBois.

The Class 3A seeding is as follows:

1. Karns City
2. Clearfield
3. Brookville

Brookville will play at Clearfield at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in the semifinals with the winner playing Karns City in the title game May 29 at Heindl Field in DuBois.

In 4A, the seeding is as follows:

1. Punxsutawney
2. St. Marys

The title game will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Heindl Field in DuBois.

DuBois is the top seed in the District 5A playoffs being played in conjunction with District 6. The Lady Beavers will play Central Mountain in the title game at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa.
