SHEFFIELD 29, AUSTIN 22

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Mya Grubbs scored nine of her game-high 12 points in the fourth quarter, as Sheffield rallied past visiting Austin, 29-22, to snap a 41-game losing streak.

The Lady Wolverines, who led 12-7 at halftime, trailed 18-13 going to the fourth quarter before outscored the Lady Panthers, who have dropped 42 straight, 16-4 in the quarter thanks in large part to Grubbs who hit a 3-pointer while also going a perfect 6 of 6 from the free-throw line.

Eliza Davidson added five points for Sheffield, while Jordan Brewer led Austin with nine tallies. Madison Hooftallen chipped in eight points, including five in the third quarter for Austin helping the Lady Panthers outscore Sheffield 11-1 in the quarter.

OTTO-ELDRED 45, BRADFORD 44

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Bri Wells could only connect on one of two free throws with eight seconds left, and Otto-Eldred escaped with a 45-44 home win over Bradford.

The Lady Terrors led 45-43 when Wells drove the lane with eight seconds remaining and was fouled. She hit the first shot to cut the Otto lead to 45-44 but missed the second. The Lady Terrors grabbed the rebound and were able to run out the clock.

Otto-Eldred led 22-19 at halftime but trailed 33-31 going to the fourth quarter before riding the play of Camryn Thomas to victory.

Thomas scored nine of her game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter and finished with a double-double thanks to 13 rebounds. Emily Smith added 11 boards for the Lady Terrors who also go six points from Ali Cousins.

Wells paced Bradford with 18 points, and Erica Marshall scored 14, including nine in the second quarter.

NORTH CLARION 51, CRANBERRY 30

SENECA, Pa. – Behind double-doubles from Tori Obenrader and Cassie Wagner, North Clarion started defense of its KSAC North title with a 51-30 win at previously unbeaten Cranberry.

Obenrader had 19 points and 20 rebounds, her second 20-rebound performance in three games, while Wagner added 12 tallies and 11 boards. Ally Carll chipped in eight points for the She-Wolves (3-0, 1-0), who led 34-17 at halftime.

Erin Merryman paced Cranberry (3-1, 0-1) with seven points and Bree Swartzfager added six.

KARNS CITY 49, KEYSTONE 37

KNOX, Pa. – Three players reached double figures for visiting Karns City, and the Lady Gremlins took care of business against one of their KSAC South rivals with a 49-37 win at Keystone.

Emily Hegedus paced Karns City with 18 points, while Alyssa Gibson scored 13 and Mackenzie Craig 10.

Karns City (2-1, 1-0) started quick and led 16-6 at the end of a quarter, but Keystone, which got 16 points from Taylor Geer, clawed back to within four, 37-33, by the end of the third quarter.

Behind seven points from Hegedus, though, the Lady Gremlins pulled away in the final eight minutes.

Kaci Weaver chipped in 10 points for the Lady Panthers (0-3, 0-1), who are still looking for their first win.

SMETHPORT 45, RIDGWAY 36

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Smethport rode the hot early shooting of Emily Treat to a 45-36 win over visiting Ridgway.

Treat hit three first-quarter 3-pointers while scoring 11 points in the quarter and all of her game-high 20 points in the first half to help the Lady Hubbers to a 17-3 lead at the end of the quarter.

Ridgway outscored Smethport, 33-28, the rest of the way but couldn’t make up the 14-point deficit.

Abby Woodard added 11 points for Smethport, while Emily Fullem led Ridgway with 11 tallies.
