Defending District 9 and PIAA Class A Champion Clarion Top Seed as District Baseball Playoff Schedule Released

CLARION, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Surging defending District 9 and PIAA Class A champion Clarion earned the No. 1 seed in the D9 baseball playoffs, which will begin next week.

The Bobcats (16-2), winners of 25 of their last 27 dating back to their late-season run in 2023, received a first-round bye in the six-team Class A bracket.

DuBois Central Catholic (10-8), the team Clarion beat for the district and state crowns last season, received the No. 2 seed and also a first-round bye.

No. 3 Elk County Catholic (8-10) will host sixth-seed Keystone (5-8) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Berwind Park in St. Marys.

No. 4 Union/A-C Valley (13-7) will host No. 5 Cameron County (9-8) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Union High School.

The ECC-Keystone winner will take on DCC on Thursday at a site and time to be determined. The winner of the Union/A-C Valley and Cameron County game will meet Clarion, also on Thursday at a site and time to be determined.

The championship game will be played May 27 at Showers Field in DuBois. Game time is TBD.

CLASS 2A

Karns City (14-2) received the top seed in the 10-team bracket and a first-round bye.

No. 2 seed Redbank Valley (11-5), third-seed Clarion-Limestone (11-5), fourth-seed Moniteau (10-7), fifth-seed Coudersport (13-3) and No. 6 Port Allegany (11-7) also received byes.

The two first-round games, both scheduled for Monday, are No. 7 Johnsonburg (7-10) hosting No. 10 Kane (8-7) at 4:30 p.m. at Knothole Park in Johnsonburg; and No. 8 Curwensville (10-10) hosting No. 9 Brockway (7-12) at 4:30 p.m.

The Gremlins will host the winner of Curwensville and Brockway on Tuesday at Pullman Park in Butler. Moniteau and Coudersport will also play at Pullman Park on Tuesday. Times for those two game are still to be determined.

Redbank will play the winner of Johnsonburg and Kane and Clarion-Limestone will host Port Allegany on Tuesday. Time is TBD.

The semifinal round will take place on Thursday with the final on May 27 at Showers Field in DuBois.

CLASS 3A

No. 1 seed Punxsutawney (13-3) will play No. 2 Brookville (11-8) for he district title at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at Showers Field in DuBois.

CLASS 4A

St. Marys (7-8) received the top seed in a three-team bracket.

The Dutch will play the winner of No. 2 Clearfield (9-8) and No. 3 Bradford (6-11) for the title on Thursday at Showers Field.

The Clearfield-Bradford game will also be played at Showers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

CLASS 5A

DuBois (7-12) will take on District 8’s Obama Academy (8-6) in the D5/6/9 subregional bracket at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Greenway Field in Pittsburgh.

The winner of that game plays the winner of the D6 championship game pitting top seed Central Mountain (13-5) against Hollidaysburg (12-6) on May 28 at a site and time to be determined for the subregional title.
