Dowling Helps Lead Union Girls to Win Over Forest; Karns City Boys Rout Marion Center

MARIENVILLE, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Cheyenne Dowling scored 14 points as the Union girls basketball team used a big fourth quarter to edge Forest, 36-30, on the road Monday night.

Dowling scored 12 of her game-high 14 points in the first three quarters as the Damsels and Fires played to a 24-24 tie.

But in the final eight minutes, Hailey Theuret sank four consecutive free throws after struggling from the line throughout and Ava Strauser, Gracie Gallagher and Dowling had big baskets to help Union (5-13) to the win.

Katie Gezik added eight points and Theuret scored five for the Damsels.

Kaylie Rooke had a huge night for Forest with 10 points, 17 rebounds and five blocked shots in the loss.

CLARION 40, BROOKVILLE 32

Taylor Alston scored 12 points and Sophia Babington added 10 to lead the Bobcats.

Eden Wonderling led Brookville with 17 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shane Peters scored 18 points and Taite Beighley chipped in 14 as Karns City rolled to a 63-32 road win over Marion Center.

Braden Grossman added eight points, Hobie Bartoe seven and Micah Rupp six for the Gremlins, who led 44-11 at the half.

Bartoe also had five assists and five steal Rupp five steal and four blocked shots, Beighley five assists and Jabob Callihan nine rebounds to lead Karns City.

CRANBERRY 65, VENANGO CATHOLIC 41

Devin Zerbe scored 13 points to lead three Cranberry players in double figures in a win over the Vikings.

Colin Zerbe and Ryan Hanna each added 11 for the Berries.

James Henry, one of the top scorers in District 9, led Venango Catholic with 18 points.

Konnor Beichner added 12 for the Vikings.

DuBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 56, CLARION 40

Luke Swisher and Andrew Green each scored 19 points as the Cardinals held off a Bobcat rally for a win.

Dauntae Girvan and Dawson Smail each scored 10 points to lead Clarion.

DCC led 21-12 at the half before Clarion cut into that lead, drawing to 22-18 before the Cardinals went on an 18-2 run.

A-C VALLEY 68, FOREST 9

Jay Clover scored 20 points as the Falcons rolled.

Alex Preston pitched in 14 points for A-C Valley.
