CAMERON COUNTY 40, COUDERSPORT 35

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Dino Brown scored 13 of his game-high 20 points in the third quarter, as Cameron County rallied to beat visiting Coudersport, 40-35, and end the Falcons 77-game NTL win streak.

The Red Raiders, who still trail Coudersport by a game in the NTL race with two games left, trailed 21-15 at halftime but got within one, 29-28, going to the fourth quarter thanks to Brown’s yeoman’s effort in the third.

Then in the fourth quarter, Cameron County went 8 of 10 from the free-throw line and got four points from Dylan Guisto and three from Caden Beldin to secure the win.

Beldin added eight points in the victory with Guisto chipping in six.

“I’m very proud of our team,” Cameron County head coach Mark Guisto, whose team lost at Coudersport by 33 points, 71-38, Jan. 8, said. “We played spirited basketball.”

Coudersport last lost an NTL regular-season game Feb. 11, 2015, 67-39, to Cameron County at home and had gone 16-0 in NTL play in each of the last four seasons before starting this season 13-0 in league play.

Dillon Keglovits led the Falcons with 10 points with Dalton Keglovits adding eight and Hayden Keck six.

While the loss most likely won’t hurt Coudersport in the NTL race – the Falcons need to win just one of their final two NTL games to win a fifth straight NTL title and play Austin Friday at home and Otto-Eldred Feb. 12 at home – the defeat could have ramifications in the District 9 Class 2A seedings. Coudersport and Keystone both entered the night with two losses but Coudy now falls a game back of the Panthers in the race for the top seed.
