District 9 will send 27, 23 of them in Class AA, to Hershey’s Giant Center this week for the PIAA Wrestling Championships starting Thursday. (State Schedule)

In the Class AA regional at Sharon High School, six D9 wrestlers won titles — Brookville’s Gavin Park, Taylor Ortz and Jimmy Miller, Redbank Valley’s Keshon Truitt, Smethport’s James Duffy and Cameron County’s Jack Karsten — and qualified 17 others with top-four finishes.

120: 1. Taylor Ortz, Brookville.

126: 2. Tanner Altobelli, Redbank Valley; 3. Cole Aaron, Brookville; 4. Jack Glasl, Brockway.

132: 2. Mason Lindenmuth, Brockway.

138: 2. Shae Bloom, Curwensville; 4. Adam Shunk, Smethport.

145: 1. James Duffy, Smethport.

152: 1. Jimmy Miller, Brookville; 3. Paul Zacherl, Cranberry.

160: 1. Keshon Truitt, Redbank Valley; 3. Caleb Hetrick, Brookville.

170: 3. Anthony Benson, Brockway.

195: 3. Zach Sintobin, Clarion; 4. Ryan Geyer, Ridgway.

220: 3. Ethan Budd, Port Allegany; 4. Cal Haines, Redbank Valley.

HWT: 1. Jack Karsten, Cameron County; 2. Tyler Beal, Keystone; 4. Brylee Shumaker, Redbank Valley.

In the Class AAA regional at Sharon, just four District 9 wrestlers earned a trip to states with Punxsutawney’s returning state medalist Kaleb Young winning his title at 152 pounds.
