Karns City Baseball Tops Moniteau; DCC Baseball, Softball Win Big Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

BUTLER, Pa. – Steve O’Donnell and Cameron Blair each drove in a pair of runs to help “visiting” Karns City to a 5-4 win over Moniteau at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Both O’Donnell and Blair were 1-for-3 with walks. Colton Hutchinson and Nolan Riley each added two hits and a run scored for the Gremlins, with Riley going 2-for-3 with a walk and Hutchinson 2-for-4.

Tyler Yough got the win going seven innings allowing four runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out five.

Wyatt Geibel led Moniteau going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Nick Sosigian was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Hunter Fitzingo took the loss going five innings allowing three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out eight. Sosigian gave up two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one in an inning of relief with Gage Neal throwing a scoreless inning on relief walking two.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 17, BROCKWAY 7, 5 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – A five-run first and a 10-run fourth helped DuBois Central Catholic beat visiting Brockway, 17-7, in five innings at the Senior Little League Field in DuBois.

Domenic Toretti, Garrett Prosper and Thomas Grecco each drove in three runs for the Cardinals.

Toretti was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and four runs scored, Prosper was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and Grecco went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. Brandon Walker also added three hits and two runs scored for DCC with Justin Miknis scoring twice.

Tyler Serafini had a pair of RBIs for Brockway with Matt Holt adding a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Four pitchers took the hill for DCC.

Anthony Kness went 1 ⅓ allowing three runs, two earned, on six walks while striking out four.

Toretti got the win in relief going 2 ⅔ allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out three.

Zach Spellen and Prosper also pitched.

Cam Baka suffered the loss allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two in an inning of work.

SOFTBALL

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 23, BROCKWAY 1, 3 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Mia Meholick went 3-for-4 with a triple, five RBIs and three runs scored to help DuBois Central Catholic to a 23-1, 3-inning win over visiting Brockway at the Challenger Field.

Carley Semancik hit a home run for the Lady Cardinals while going 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Maia Cogley had two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. Ashley Wruble adding a 3-for-3 day with a double and three runs scored with Gabby Sabatose going 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Wruble picked up the win going two hitless, scoreless innings striking out three.

Makenzie Overbeck had the RBI for Brockway with Morgan Lindemuth scoring the Lady Rovers run.
